Steal away for a romantic retreat to the Cumbrian countryside, reaffirming your affections with a mystical backdrop of Lakelands, forests and mountains behind you. A luxury update on glamping is on offer here in the village of Calthwaite, staying in a pod that’s perfect for two. No expense has been spared in making this stay as special as possible, with stylish interior decor and all the necessary amenities on hand for perfecting your stay. Head out each day and discover the nearby Lake District or North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or venture to Carlisle for quality restaurants and boutique shopping.

Upon first arrival, you’ll no doubt discover that every inch of this space has been used wisely. A pull-down double bed ensures there’ll be no compromises when it comes to getting that full night’s sleep, whilst a cushy sofa and Smart TV offers the perfect opportunity for unwinding of an evening. Come rain or shine, find a luxury private hot tub hidden under an exterior cabana-style canopy – the perfect spot for sampling a locally sourced tipple and soaking away your woes. When done, the high-quality rain forest shower in the bathroom ensures you’ll go to bed feeling totally refreshed.

Stay close to home and discover the Calthwaite Hall Estate, stopping off in the village pub for a bite of something local (both less than 150 metres). A trip to the local town of Carlisle (11 miles) is a must for short stays, with its historic castle and cathedral, Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery and, of course, plenty of shops to browse. Those more inclined for outdoor activity will adore the close proximity to the Lake District (7.5 miles) and the North Pennines (12 miles), discovering waterfront walks, bustling woodlands and vast mountains.

Lovely little break for the weekend. Enjoyed sitting in the hot tub listening to the wildlife and watching the peacocks walk past. Decent kitchen equipment to be utilised however we opted for a takeaway from the Globe Inn across the road.
