Situated in a quiet residential area, an easy 1/3 mile walk from the centre of Keswick; the property is perfectly placed whether you feel like popping into the bustling centre of the town, or whether you'd like to get outdoors and make the most of the stunning natural surroundings.

Keswick has an array of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, as well as a variety of water sports on Derwentwater. Kids will love Fitz Park with its playground and tennis courts, and the museum and swimming pool are excellent rainy-day options. Spend the day exploring Derwentwater by steamer or rowing boat; tackle the climb up Scafell Pike or enjoy a bit of culture with a concert or play at the Theatre by the Lake. The ancient Castlerigg Stone Circle sits just above Keswick and is well worth a visit. Mountain bikers of all levels will love Whinlatter Forest Park, 5 miles away, where cycling and walking trails wind through the woods, and thrill seekers can get hearts racing along the high ropes course at Go Ape! 17 miles away is Penrith, the largest town in the area with a good mixture of independent and high street shops, ideal for a spot of retail therapy, as well as having many places to eat.

Step through the front door of this lovely Keswick cottage into the cosy entrance hall, which leads into a wonderfully welcoming and spacious open-plan living/dining room, benefitting from oak floors throughout. There are two large, sumptuous sofas and an ottoman arranged around the wood burner, ideal for cosy nights in with a movie on the SkyTV. The dining area has a table for four making it the perfect place to catch up over a delicious meal. The country-style kitchen has a view over the rear patio and is equipped with a range-style cooker with gas hob, two ovens, separate grill, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Leading off the kitchen is the conservatory-style sitting area, with table and seating for four and an external door to the rear patio, allowing the feeling of being outdoors even if it's raining. Upstairs the two charming bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and high-quality cotton bedding. There is a super-king-size bedroom and a king-size bedroom and the family shower room has a large walk-in power shower.

Outside, to the front of the cottage there is a small sitting area with views over the rooftops towards Latrigg, the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. The rear patio is enclosed and private, with furniture allowing for al fresco dining in warm weather. Free on-street parking is available.

A lovely, comfortable, cottage that is furnished to a very high standard. It looks small from the front but it has been extended to the rear such that 4 adults can easily rub along here without it feeling crowded. There is a charming courtyard to the rear suitable for alfresco eating/relaxing when the weather permits! Keswick town centre is easily Read morewalkable from this cottage, but if you do come by car(s), parking can be an issue: on one occasion I had to park 3 streets away! Hide

Our third stay here at Rowan Tree and for us its the perfect holiday cottage. Although pets are now allowed, we didnt notice any signs or smells, which we thought we would. The cottage has everything we need and is really comfortable. Location is great, close to town yet still quiet.. Thanks both for another wonderful stay

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
