Providing a relaxing getaway for families, friends and couples, this inviting cottage offers spacious holiday accommodation in the heart of the picturesque Lakeland village of Braithwaite. Nestling on the outskirts of Keswick, this traditional property has been thoughtfully updated and beautifully decorated to make a fantastic getaway for up to six guests. Featuring exposed brickwork, wooden beams and a warming wood burner, it’s a wonderful base for eager walkers and nature lovers exploring a magical part of the Lake District.

Entering the cottage, you will find the fully equipped kitchen/diner which has a wide range of equipment so you can cook and share all your favourite family meals around the sociable dining table. After dinner, you can head through to the cosy lounge which is a perfect space for you all to sit back in front of the wood burner, watch a movie on the Smart TV or chat late into the night. Heading upstairs you will have a choice of three charming bedrooms, all decorated in light, relaxing shades and featuring sloping ceilings with exposed beams: there’s a pretty double room overlooking the village; a second double with a feature fireplace and lovely scenery; and a third bedroom which is a twin, particularly suitable for children. There’s also a stylish family bathroom.

The village of Braithwaite has some great places to eat and drink, including a restaurant next to the cottage. Heading into Keswick (2.5 miles), popular attractions include the Puzzling Place, the Alhambra Cinema, Derwent Pencil Museum and the Theatre by the Lake on the northern shore of Derwentwater. Also nearby are Castlerigg Stone Circle, Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum, and Mirehouse and Gardens on the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake (all within 7.5 miles).

Fabulous cottage in a fantastic location. Plenty of fabulous walks from the doorstep, we were spoilt for choice. Enjoyed meals & drinks at the dog friendly Royal Oak & Coledale inn. We enjoyed a short walk into nearby portinscale & visited the chalet & farmers arms for food & drinks & would recommend both. Cottage was warm, cosy, comfortable & wellRead more equipped. Comfortable cottage with superb location for accessing local fells and short drive to Keswick. Very limited parking but plenty of street parking nearby. No private garden so for a family with a dog it meant always having to take him out on a lead. Otherwise we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage

Orchard Cottage is very comfortable, decently equipped and in a great location for exploring Braithwaite, Keswick and the Northern Lakes. It would have been nice to have been able to take advantage a bit more but the weather decided it was going to rain a lot for the weekend we were there... at least the pubs provided some shelter, and can thoroughRead morely recommend the revamped Middle Ruddings for food (and beer), but would give the Coledale Inn a miss for food (good beer though!). Great location for the (very nice) restaurant and the (equally nice) pub which are both literally seconds away. The tight parking, the lack of a garden, the proximity to the slightly noisy restaurant kitchen and the single bathroom/toilet are all negatives, but not overly so, and the price reflects these. The cottage was extremely well presented, clean and equipped. The bottle of Proscecco was a nice welcome. Lovely location and lovely house but of parking is a deal breaker for you note that the parking out the front is very tight. We ended up parking up the road. Lovely village shop and local walks.

Stayed at the cottage twice. Both times because the location is very convenient for the cycling holiday we were on. But the cleanliness is not up to scratch, the hoovers been full everytime, oven full of baked on food that sets smoke alarm off, bins full of flies outside the door, cobwebs wherever slightly beyond easy reach, and mould in bathroom. This is in a superb location, close to civilisation but away from the bustle. A super comfy cottage, the beds were amazing. And beautiful food next door and a shop in the village that sells EVERYTHING! You can walk up so many beautiful hills right from the doorstep. Highly recommended.
