Holidays in Kirkby Lonsdale

Self-catering holiday accommodation in Kirkby Lonsdale

A historic market town sat between the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Kirkby Lonsdale is a quaint market town with a vast history. The rows of ancient buildings, the 11th century church and the 12th century Devil’s Bridge all tell a story of a town held in time. There are many things to do in the town centre, however one of the most notable is Ruskin’s View, once painted by Turner. If you head past the church, you will find a promenade above the River Lune - the resulting panorama is what once made Ruskin say: “I do not know in all my country, still less in France or Italy, a place more naturally divine.”

Kirkby Lonsdale is best placed for exploring the South Lakes, easily accessing Windermere, Newby Bridge and Grange-over-Sands. A stay in one of our Kirkby Lonsdale cottages will be a historical eye-opener.
