An extremely comfortable stay in a beautiful location. The house is very well located for adventures into the Lake District or the coast and has beautiful views. The bedrooms were all large and comfortable, the bathrooms modern and the kitchen had everything we needed. The cosy yet large sitting room was ideal for an evening by the fire after a dayRead more outdoors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying in this beautiful place. Anne, the host, was also very friendly and welcoming. Hide

Ullock Mains is idyllic. The house is spacious & really well furnished. We have stayed in many holiday rentals but none of them have felt anywhere near as homely. The bedrooms are all of a great size & comfortable, every room has the most incredible outlook, either over the garden & surrounding countryside or the pretty hamlet. The village pub in DRead moreean is a short walk away along quiet lanes & is perfect for your first night. The owners are delightful & extremely helpful without being intrusive. Hide

This cottage is new to rent for 2020 and I would absolutely give it a 5 star review. It has been beautifully decorated and furnished to create a sophisticated country cottage ambiance. Anne and Gordon were very welcoming and helpful always available with advice about the local area and walks. I would not hesitate to return.

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
