Situated in the heart of the village of Cartmel with a pub less than 50 metres away and plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes within half a mile, this beautiful property promises an unforgettable escape to guests. Sleeping six over three stunning bedrooms with an extra two guests in the romantic annexe, this charming property is an opportunity to explore the local area but also travel further afield into the spectacular Lake District, including Lake Windermere (17 miles) and Coniston Water (22 miles). And if you need a day at home, relax in the beautiful garden, looking out towards the raised beds and small trees.

Leave your coats in the boot room and step into the bright and airy kitchen where shaker-style units and rustic tiles give it a farmhouse-style atmosphere. The elegant dining room with peaceful tones of white and blue is a pleasure to eat meals in; retire to the seating area after lunch and look out to the garden through the French doors. Couples can hide away in the studio-style annexe that has its own shower room as well as a cosy sitting area to curl up in. The other three bedrooms have a wonderful air of faded grandeur and will ensure you have a tranquil night’s sleep.

Take the children to Lakeland Miniature Village (4 miles) where they will delight in over 100 buildings made from local Coniston slate, or head to Fell Foot Park (9.5 miles) where there’s an educational tree trail and plenty of spots for picnics. Take a ride on Coniston Water on the National Trust’s Steam Yacht Gondola (24.5 miles) or hire kayaks or canoes to experience it for yourself. Wander the ruins of Furness Abbey (24.5 miles) or Wray Castle (20 miles) to add a bit of history to your trip.

Please note there is a refundable £200 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

Dirtiest accommodation we have ever stayed in. Property location was fantastic. External property kerb appeal was fantastic. Once inside, was a different story. Disgustingly dirty. Used toilet paper in WC. Hairs in bath, Rubbish under the bed. Burnt toast in toaster & the list goes on. Owner, whilst pleasant in his text messages (to advise us thereRead more was no external bin - we were greeted with an attacked plastic bag of rubbish on arrival) We have stayed in 12 properties in Cartmel before Hide

Great space and beautiful cottage located facing the pig and whistle. Versatile space with having the room above the garage. This is the second time we have visited and will come back again

Fantastic outdoor space, separate annex was a real bonus. Beautifully presented character cottage in the centre of Cartmel.

We found the accommodation was cramped for 8 and equipment inadequate eg only 6 dining chairs, only 1 pillow per person on some beds, settee space not adequate for 8. Only 1 set of keys which compromised fire escape. Poor water pressure in bathroom shower. Good location though with access to village amenities.

Great location - short walk into the village with a small pub opposite. Comfortably appointed and plenty of space. If going in the winter make sure that the owner allows full access to the heating system as the hours were limited when we stayed. Even in October it can get very cold at night!

Lovely cottage, just a short walk from main village centre. It was very well equipped, including a new Rangemaster cooker. Cottage and annexe studio bedroom beautifully decorated. Great security being able to get 2 big cars off the road.

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
