A couple of miles from the shores of Windermere, this delightful apartment makes a lovely holiday base for a family or couple enjoying the Lake District. Part of a magnificent country house dating from 1901, this self-contained apartment has been attractively furnished and lovingly updated to provide relaxing and cosy accommodation for up to four guests. Set within extensive private gardens with views over the Langdales, this elegant property is ideal for discovering the lakes, beautiful valleys and lush woodland of this spectacular national park.

Accessed via stairs from the house’s main hall, this luxurious lower ground floor apartment features a light and relaxing open-plan lounge/diner. The pretty lounge is tastefully furnished and has charming views. The dining area is ideal for a family meal which you can prepare in the stylishly designed and fully equipped kitchen. The apartment also has two comfortable bedrooms, two attractive shower rooms, an outer hallway providing ample storage space, and an inner hallway with a quiet reading area. The veranda houses a private south-facing terrace with garden furniture, making this an ideal spot for dining or watching the birds as they flit across the large, shared gardens.

From the apartment, there are some wonderful walks suitable for all fitness levels. A pleasant stroll takes you over to the Orrest Head Viewpoint (1.5 miles) which looks out across Windermere, while more experienced climbers can attempt Red Screes to the north (8.5 miles). You will find a variety of great cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops both in Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere (2.5 miles), where there are also plenty of opportunities for water sports, hiring boats, or cruising across the lake by steamship. Exploring the area further, you can visit Sizergh Castle (12 miles), Levens Hall (15 miles) or the historic market town of Kendal (8.5 miles).

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Fabulous apartment. Beautiful Setting. Everything you could need is in the apartment. Definitely didn't seem like a typical 'dog friendly' apartment. We had a fabulous, relaxing week and would definitely go back again.

Beautiful apartment, spotlessly clean and very well-equipped. Excellent for the dog with an accessible and large lawn. Lovely peaceful setting too and hard to remember it was close to the town and main road. Would definitely come back and will strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a spacious and comfortable base to explore the area.

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
