Quintessential, luxurious and ideally placed for a culinary adventure, this impressive property is set at the heart of gorgeous Cartmel, a chocolate-box village set on the southern tip of the Lake District. Surrounded by independent food shops, tempting eateries and Michelin-star restaurants, this superb property sleeps four enthusiastic foodies in comfort. Prepare to kick back and relax in style, sampling the finest local fare and fine wine in front of an exciting film, your nearest and dearest by your side.

Elegant, impressive and beautifully styled, you’ll be sorely tempted to escape the blustery weather and unwind in the comfort of this exquisite property. Leave your muddy coats and shoes in the utility area and head into the lounge for some quality family time playing board games or watching TV in the lounge, delving into some delicious snacks and wriggling your toes by the wood burner-effect gas fire. Cook up a storm in the country-cottage-style kitchen, retreating through to the lounge/diner, which features a second gas-effect fire and TV/DVD. Upstairs, two exquisite bedrooms provide a welcome sanctuary after a busy day, boasting sumptuous bedding and impossibly soft towels. The master suite has a decadent en-suite bathroom with a celebrity-worthy corner bath and separate shower. The adjacent room has a fantastic en-suite and cosy twin beds. Outside, there is a pretty shingle courtyard and off-road parking for two cars.

Lace up your boots and amble across the fells at leisure, venturing down to the Victorian estuary town of Grange-over-Sands 2 miles away to explore the shops, artisan bakery and ornamental gardens – populated by lots of curious ducks and geese. Keen golfers have two courses to choose from within 3 miles, and you can easily hire bikes in Witherslack, 7.5 miles away, to discover the romantic wilderness from a new perspective.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

Rossendale House is roomy and light. Spotlessly clean always. Our fourth visit already booked for next year. It's very quiet and well situated for access to anything in Cartmel which is a beautiful little village, very good for "foodies". Always feel relaxed as soon as we get to Rossendale. Love James's paintings and photographs throughout the housRead moree. Also has the advantage of off road parking which is rare in Cartmel. Thanks James and Rachel for another lovely holiday. Hide

Super comfortable, cosy and clean house. Gorgeous artwork on wall painted by the owner. Perfect location as peaceful escape from busier Lakeland villages after a day out walking. Good places to eat, and local takeaway pizza!

Cottage is well placed for all that Cartmel has to offer, off road parking good. Owners have put a lot of work into making the cottage a most welcoming environment. The preparations post lockdown were good, plenty of extra cleaning products, although we did take a 'covid 19 kit'with us for extra safety.

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
