Be inspired by the mountainous landscape and glacial waters of Beatrix Potter Country, choosing this enchanting cottage that’s straight out of a fairy tale. Exposed stone, crackling fires and an array of home comforts set the scene, allowing you to leave your worries at the door and embrace the relaxed Lakeland lifestyle. Set at the heart of Hawkshead village, your cosy abode is a must for couples seeking a stylish retreat away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to experience the iconic tourist attractions of Windermere and beyond.

Overlooking the village square and accessed via a flight of external steps, this gorgeous property is made deliciously comfortable by underfloor heating and a wood burner. Escape cold winter evenings and snuggle up on the sofas with a good film and a glass of wine or settle down to a special candlelit meal for two, lovingly prepared in the contemporary kitchen area. At bedtime, sink into the crisp bedding of the elegant bedroom after a long soak in the adjoining bathroom. There isn’t an outside space to the property, but you are within walking distance of the nearby eateries. You’ll also have a parking permit for one car for use in the village car park.

Venture to the western shores of Lake Windermere, 2.5 miles away, to bask in the spectacular views of the sparkling water and surrounding mountains, heading north towards Ambleside, 5.5 miles away, to browse the independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The former residence of Beatrix Potter is now a popular National Trust property, 2.5 miles away, where you can explore the country-cottage garden that influenced her tales of woodland creatures. Hawkshead village is home to the renowned Beatrix Potter Gallery, which hosts an extensive collection of her miniature masterpieces.

Great little apartment for my wife and I to stay in whilst in the Lakes for a week. Great location both for a wide variety of walks as well as several pubs. Really appreciated having the comfortable lounge on a wet day to read books and chill with TV. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils etc., much better than some places we have stayed in theRead more past. Would definitely recommend! Hide

A lovely cottage, ideal for 2 people! We stayed here for a week and had such a relaxing, if quite energetic time. We stayed during the first easing of lockdown, so while the pubs and shops were open there were restrictions, such as having to eat outside, this was not a problem though as the pubs had heaters and we managed to dodge the showers. The Read morecottage itself was well equipped and the bed comfortable, it had everything needed for a weeks stay and was a great base to explore the Lakes. Hide

Goosyfoot is gorgeous! Its perfect for a romantic holiday for a couple. The location, in the centre of Hawkshead, is ideal. Loads of great walks from the door so you really dont need your car once youve arrived. There are several pubs and cafes in the village centre and a deli and a co-op a couple of steps from the door. Definitely recommended

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
