This gorgeous property overlooks the pretty main square in the village of Hawkshead, within easy walking distance of all amenities and attractions. The village is proud of its heritage and links to Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth and visitors are able to visit the National Trust managed Beatrix Potter Gallery and historic Grammar School. Grizedale Forest is just a few miles south of the village and offers stunning walks, a sculpture trail, fun Segway hire and a Go-Ape climbing centre, which even has a thrilling zip wire, for those feeling brave. Of course, a trip to Lake Windermere is a must, and it is just five miles from the property. This really is a wonderful base from which to enjoy this beautiful region.

Guests access this property via asset of external steps, which lead to the stable-door opening onto the property’s hallway. Through the hallway, guests will come to the welcoming open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with some lovely original features, including the exposed stone wall and fireplace which now occupies the cosy wood burner, sitting on a stone hearth. The room is wonderfully relaxing, with leather sofa, TV, DVD, and window-side dining table for two. The contemporary kitchen area offers everything that guests will need to prepare their favourite meals, including an electric oven, hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. A glass-sided staircase leads up to the romantic bedroom, which has the feeling of a high-quality hotel room, only with more privacy. The bed is a kingsize double, but can be made up as two twins on request. Just across from the bedroom, the sleek bathroom offers a shower over the bath and WC. Amazing stay at Gooseyfoot, apartment in the heart of Hawkshead with excellent facilities and plenty of information in the cottage about walks in the surrounding areas. We stayed here for our mini-moon the week after getting married and it was perfect for this - special enough for an occasion such as a mini-moon but reasonably priced if you dont waRead morent to spend loads! We enjoyed staying in the centre of the village as it was so close to everything you could need but was nice and peaceful. Hide

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
