Part of a small group of cottages on the north-west shore of the spellbinding Coniston Water, this delightful single-level property is a cosy and relaxing holiday home for four guests. Making a wonderful base for exploring the Lake District, this light and tranquil cottage is perfect for couples, small families, walkers, water sports enthusiasts and cyclists. Situated in a beautiful spot on a country estate the cottage is just a mile from the picturesque village of Coniston and features a spacious garden ideal for relaxing in at the end of a glorious day.

 

This comfortable and inviting semi-detached cottage features a light and welcoming lounge/diner with wooden floors and a traditional wood burner, making it a lovely space for unwinding. The farmhouse-style kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, and there are two tastefully decorated bedrooms. The large garden is fully enclosed and features a long lawn and a walled patio area with plenty of seating and a BBQ. The property also features private parking for two cars and storage for bikes and two kayaks or a canoe.

 

Coniston Water is just a short walk away, and makes an ideal location for a variety of water sports including kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and motor boating. The mountains and woodland surrounding the lake are perfect for walkers, hikers, climbers, nature lovers and mountain bikers, with the Old Man of Coniston dominating the landscape. The village of Coniston (1.5 miles) is home to the Ruskin Museum and a range of independent shops, pubs and restaurants. You can cruise across Coniston Water on a steamship, visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery in the pretty village of Hawkshead (3 miles) or discover the sites of the copper mines throughout the valley.

Lovely spot and really nice touches in the house - sweet treats and a bottle of wine. Great views from the garden and only 5 mins walk downhill to the lake. Nice wood burning stove for cosy nights . Highly recommended for a couple or small family.

Garden House is small but very comfortable, well equipped and clean. It was perfect for 3 of us. The garden is lovely and we loved the location, a nice easy walk to Brantwood and to Coniston. We recommend and hope to return.

A beautifully presented cottage in a wonderful location at the head of Coniston Water within easy walking distance of Coniston village. There are so many wonderful walks direct from your front door that we only managed a few in our week away, but every one was outstanding. The owners made us feel very welcome with lots of treats for us and the dog.Read more There is a very comprehensive house book and the lovely wood burning stove made our evenings cosy and warm after a day on the fells. Superb cottage in an outstanding area of natural beauty. Absolutely everything was provided that could be needed, including some very thoughtful Welcome gifts. Fantastic accommodation in a great location. Nice short walk to the lake and about a mile to the village Centre. Very clean on arrival. Everything you would need for a stay including some nice touches by the owners, fruit cake, teabags, milk and treats for the dogs etc. A great place to stay for us and the dogs. Fantastic location and a lovely place that was warm and cosy with everything you need for a terrific break. This was our first holiday of the year due to Covid and we were really looking forward to it so were over the moon that the cottage was exactly what wed hoped for... Size and layout of garden, comfort level of beds and particular location of the property scored highly but overall it is perhaps better suited to the younger age range, with children, rather than more senior travellers looking for a higher level of comfort and convenience.
