Part of a small group of cottages on the north-west shore of the spellbinding Coniston Water, this delightful single-level property is a cosy and relaxing holiday home for four guests. Making a wonderful base for exploring the Lake District, this light and tranquil cottage is perfect for couples, small families, walkers, water sports enthusiasts and cyclists. Situated in a beautiful spot on a country estate the cottage is just a mile from the picturesque village of Coniston and features a spacious garden ideal for relaxing in at the end of a glorious day.

 

This comfortable and inviting semi-detached cottage features a light and welcoming lounge/diner with wooden floors and a traditional wood burner, making it a lovely space for unwinding. The farmhouse-style kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, and there are two tastefully decorated bedrooms. The large garden is fully enclosed and features a long lawn and a walled patio area with plenty of seating and a BBQ. The property also features a private parking space and storage for bikes and two kayaks or a canoe.

 

Coniston Water is just a short walk away, and makes an ideal location for a variety of water sports including kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and motor boating. The mountains and woodland surrounding the lake are perfect for walkers, hikers, climbers, nature lovers and mountain bikers, with the Old Man of Coniston dominating the landscape. The village of Coniston (1.5 miles) is home to the Ruskin Museum and a range of independent shops, pubs and restaurants. You can cruise across Coniston Water on a steamship, visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery in the pretty village of Hawkshead (3 miles) or discover the sites of the copper mines throughout the valley.

Fantastic accommodation in a great location. Nice short walk to the lake and about a mile to the village Centre. Very clean on arrival. Everything you would need for a stay including some nice touches by the owners, fruit cake, teabags, milk and treats for the dogs etc. A great place to stay for us and the dogs. Size and layout of garden, comfort level of beds and particular location of the property scored highly but overall it is perhaps better suited to the younger age range, with children, rather than more senior travellers looking for a higher level of comfort and convenience.

Absolutely beautiful, everything had been thought of by the owners and there was even some treats left for our arrival. The log burner was great and the option to buy extra dry logs was perfect. Lovely thought having dog bowls etc available as they can often be forgotten whilst packing. The cottage location was ideal for walks to Coniston and the vRead moreiews were fabulous on a cold frosty morning. Parking was also handy. This cottage for my wife and I was perfect. Just enough of the beaten track to not be in solitude but plenty of peace and quiet. Garden House is a well presented comfortable property. It is compact, especially the kitchen, but well located with lots of great walks close by. The garden is fenced, but not secure for lively dogs like our springer spaniel. Fortunately we had taken a long line with us which gave him freedom to explore the garden safely.
