Enjoying a perfect position in the heart of Hawkshead, this stylish property makes a lovely couple’s retreat. With Windermere and Coniston Water nearby, this elegant getaway provides cosy, atmospheric and relaxing accommodation for two guests. Originally the village’s courthouse and police station, this beautiful cottage is set across three spacious and airy floors, and features a delightful balcony with views over towards Claife Heights.

Entering the property, the ground floor features a wonderfully designed and fully equipped kitchen/diner which is perfect for preparing and sharing a favourite romantic meal. The ground floor also has an elegant shower room. An oak staircase leads to the bright, fresh and tasteful lounge, with comfortable sofas, a cosy fire and TV. The balcony looks out over the village and provides a delightful spot for enjoying a morning coffee. Heading up to the second floor, the attractive king-size bedroom has a high ceiling, bespoke oak furniture, beautiful views from both windows, a TV and en-suite bathroom.

The historic village of Hawkshead is known for its links with Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth, and is superbly situated for exploring the southern Lake District. The village has a number of welcoming pubs and restaurants, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the Old Grammar School. To the south is the beautiful Esthwaite Water (1 mile), with Coniston Water to the south-west, the vast expanse of Windermere to the east and Grasmere and Rydal Water to the north (all within 9 miles). Walkers and climbers can attempt Claife Heights or The Old Man of Coniston (both 5 miles), or you can head into Grizedale Forest (2.5 miles) for beautiful walks, a sculpture trail and a Go Ape centre. Other local attractions include the National Trust’s Hill Top (2.5 miles) and Fell Foot Park (10 miles).

The arresting view apartment was superb. Luxury features as well as a nice surprise from the owners when we walked in were very welcomed. Location is perfect. Great to have your own parking space but be warned if you have a big vehicle, you might going round the car park a bit tricky. I highly recommend staying here!

Warm welcoming accommodation with excellent top quality fixtures and fittings. Central village location ideal for exploring the Southern Lakes. Arresting View is outstanding. The location was perfect and the decor, furniture and fixings were all 5 star. We are seasoned Lake Visitors and this has to be in our top 3. Great location in centre of Hawkshead. However it should be emphasised that the accommodation is over three floors. It involves 30 stairs from the bedroom, to the shower room & 30 stairs back to get dressed. (60 in total every morning). When we arrived at arresting view we were very impressed with the property. We have stayed in numerous dog friendly cottages throughout the Lake District and this is by far the best. We couldn't help but have a wonderful time in such luxurious and comfortable surroundings. Everything was top notch - thank you! Just one problem, the heating was set too high and because we were out walking every day we didn't ever succeed in lowering the temp. An idiot's guide would have come in handy!
