A captivating three-bedroom cottage in the picturesque village of Elterwater, this is an excellent base for a family or a group of friends exploring the enchanting Langdales. There are endless stunning paths and tracks around this area – walk or cycle the riverside route to Skelwith Force waterfall or head up to the National Trust’s ever-popular pub and hub, Sticklebarn (3 miles) and plot your trail from there. Stock Ghyll Force waterfall, just outside pretty and historic Ambleside (4 miles) is well worth a visit too, as are the town’s shops, cafes and restaurants. Waterhead, at the northern tip of Windermere, is just a little further (4.5 miles) and offers water sports, lake cruises and wonderful waterside vistas of the largest lake in the region.

This delightful property sits in a super, elevated position, overlooking the village and the valley beyond; offering guests varied and lovely Lakeland views. Once a workshop, the property has been charmingly converted into comfortable cottage accommodation. Fell View is entered via a set of slate steps, where a landing welcomes walkers with hooks for coats. There’s a light and bright kitchen/diner which is well equipped for cooking and dining, and offers a smart, solid-wood table and chairs seating six and a wood burner-effect electric fire. A utility room, accessible from the garden, provides laundry facilities. The lounge/diner, which is accessed down one step, has a TV, sofa and armchair seating gathered around a feature fireplace with exposed stonework, as well as a second dining table and chairs seating eight, perfect for enjoying more formal meals with additional guests. Three bedrooms complete the accommodation – two king-size rooms with their own en-suite shower rooms, and one twin room with an en-suite bathroom which has a bath and a handheld shower attachment. The twin room is reached via some downward stairs and has the added benefit of French doors that lead out onto the garden patio.

Outside, a tranquil, sloping garden with mature planting has both lawn and patio areas for relaxing in good weather. Al fresco meals on the patio, drinking in the fellside scenery, will prove irresistible.

The cottage is in a superb location for fantastic walks from the door and is of good proportions for six people. Just the standard of cleaning needs to be addressed.

Fellview is a lovely place to stay plenty of space to relax in with lots of quirks which made it a special place (window seat, comfortable beds) and in a great location.

What a great cottage! Super warm and all the home comforts you could wish for. We had a fantastic week here with our 2 dogs and found that the cottage had everything we needed. The garden is completely enclosed and secure.

Despite assurances beforehand the dish washer wasn't functional during the stay. Water spilt onto the kitchen floor which was sorted by the excellent maintenance man who also got the boiler going for hot water after a day without.This wouldn't have been much of a problem but the layout of the kitchen sink and drainer made it difficult to wash up foRead morer 6 people after a meal. There wasn't much of a welcome pack, just a few tea and coffee sachets and a few biscuits. At the price paid we would have expected more. The rest of the kitchen appliances were first class. The washing up dish cloths etc were poor and we had to buy our own liquid. Overall it was felt that although the cottage was first class it seemed to lack some of the little personal touches which would have made it better. Hide

We had a wonderful stay thank you. There was a slight smell of dogs on arrival, but we could also tell the property had been cleaned to a high standard. There were a few very minor niggles which we reported, but overall it was great. One more airer/ clothes line would be useful. But overall fantastic- we have booked for next year!!

We had a very comfortable stay. The equipment was good but the kitchen knives were not particularly sharp. Our main niggle was the early checkout at 9 am which is unusual and weve never experienced before( 10 am being the earliest over a long period of time of renting properties)

Wash basin in bedroom off hall not draining properly ,doormat needed at front door inside. Go Electric fire in sitting room poor. Everything else good.

W have been to Fell View several times and enjoy it immensely. This time we had two small problems: 1) Only one black bin bag. 2) only two dishwasher tablets. In addition we again cannot understand why there is no recycling provision. It is heartbreaking to put plastic, glass and cardboard in one bin, especially in the Lakes. No dishwasher tablets or bin bags left. Kitchen in desperate need of update. Difficult to manage in there with lack of worktop space. Because it is out of date it doesn't look like it is very clean. Like that each bedroom has an ensuite. Living room could do with a bit of a refresh.

Have stayed at Fell View before. New fridge is a positive. Kitchen now very well equipped. Double mattress in smaller of the bedrooms now sags in the centre and could do with replacing. Otherwise a very good holiday property.
