Luxurious period cottage perfect for a romantic getaway in Cumbria’s famed National Park. Enjoy cosy nights in front of the roaring wood burner and admire the stunning views over Ullswater. The historic cottage occupies an idyllic location above Glencoyne Valley, with the slopes of Sheffield Pike in view behind and mighty Helvellyn just 3 miles away. Ullswater itself, just 0.5 miles down a quiet country track, is a central hub for so much Lake District activity, including waterfront walks, trips on the traditional steamer and kayaking and boating on the water. Don’t miss the fabulous scenery of the Aira Force Waterfall, only 2.5 miles away.

On arrival, enter the kitchen where original slate floors, an Aga and a Belfast sink lend the room an authentic farmhouse feel. Complete with a dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine, you’ve got all the mod-cons necessary here for an extremely easy stay. Move through the property and into the beamed lounge/diner, comfortably furnished with a large sofa, a magnificent wood burner and a dining space for mealtimes. Switch on the smart TV whilst relaxing in here, letting the warmth from the fire make you cosier than ever. A cottage staircase leads up to the first floor where you’ll find a handsome king-size bedroom and an adjacent bathroom. The bedroom features a soft mattress that you’ll be eager to sink into, whilst the en-suite bathroom is equipped with a luxurious roll-top bath for your evening soak. Both floors offer underfloor heating, a real delight for winter stays.

Venturing outside, the property boasts a shared lawned area looking over mature apple and thorn trees and across the valley. The lawn is bound on one side by hedges and is open to views of the lake on the other. The garden offers an enviable area in which to sit and enjoy the lake views and is equipped with a garden bench and tables for this purpose.

The setting of the cottage was idyllic. The cottage is beautifully furnished and we appreciated the character of the property. The location is wonderful, walks from the front door, and to-be able to walk to facilities is a huge positive. We love our wildlife, so to be surrounded by red squirrels was wonderful.

For a premium rental there was a lack of detail with broken items, visible damp in places and complete lack of a welcome pack. Very disappointing. On the plus side the location was wonderful.

A beautiful house, with evidence of high standards everywhere. The wainscoting, the bath, the firm bed, the Aga - all gave the property a luxurious feel. The kitchen underfloor heating was much appreciated. The access to the Helvellyn range from the door was a real bonus. Loved it all with its nuthatches and red squirrels.

The cottage makes a good base for seeing the local area and I have never seen so many red squirrels up close. The track up to the property is long and rough. The stairs up to the bedroom and bathroom are to be tackled with caution. Nice property, but maybe over-priced.

Beautiful and quiet cottage off the beaten track with stunning views of Ullswater. The bed is very comfy and the cottage is nice and cosy especially with the fire and Aga. The location is amazing as it is nice and secluded but you can easily walk / drive to Glenridding along the lake and if you are feeling more adventurous there is a footpath from Read morethe door that gets you up into the open fell.
