Located in a gently elevated spot overlooking Ambleside, this family-friendly hideaway, boasting lovely views across the village to Loughrigg beyond, is the ideal setting for a peaceful getaway. Downhill of the doorstep brings you to the shores of the iconic Lake Windermere, where you can enjoy a leisurely cruise and take in the glorious views of the surrounding fells. The market town of Ambleside itself has an eclectic mix of tea rooms, bars, and restaurants to sample during the day and through to the evening. Keen outdoor explorers can enjoy a plethora of scenic walks beginning from Waterhead Pier, just less than a mile away. Those looking for tranquillity can stroll through Rothay Park, half a mile away, over the stepping stones and along to Rydal Water and Caves, 2.5 miles away, a lovely route with plenty of picnic spots.

Steps up to the front door lead into a spacious, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner which is flooded with plenty of natural sunlight from the lovely large windows. The contemporary country cottage-style kitchen enjoys sleek granite worktops that add a touch of elegance, whilst the large dining area boasts natural wood hues that reflect the colours of your surrounding scenery. The comfortable lounge area features a local slate fireplace, boasting an electric fire, and enjoys wonderful views across the valley to Loughrigg. Leading off from the kitchen is a blissful snug with cosy seating, perfect for quiet relaxation or enjoying a good book. Glass doors from the snug open onto the balcony patio, seamlessly connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces. Adjacent to the snug, there's a handy utility cupboard. There are four bedrooms, one twin sitting a few steps up from the lounge and one king-size, one double, and one single sitting at the other end of the property, each sharing a wonderfully peaceful ambience. A contemporary bathroom and shower room complete this homely hideaway.

Outside, the lovely balcony patio boasts outdoor furniture, perfect for al fresco dining, and a second patio at the side of the property, shaded by shrubs and hedges, provides a relaxing spot to enjoy. A convenient outside tap and hose are ideal for washing muddy paws and boots after a day on the fells. There is private parking for three cars and access to the garage for storing bikes, kayaks, and other outdoor gear.

Very clean, well stocked kitchen, nice bathrooms, comfortable seating. Bedrooms a little basic. Maybe a work in progress? Peaceful setting, handy for getting into Ambleside. Great to have box of toys. My only real gripe or suggestion would be to fence off the garden for young children and dogs.

Parkwood is a great place to stay. This is our second visit. Spotlessly clean with everything you could need for a group of 7. Very spacious and comfortable. Great location and parking for up to 3 cars. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

This was our second stay at Parkwood and won't be the last. The bungalow is extremely well presented and contained everything we needed for a great stay. The kitchen has all the utensils you will need to make a good full English before a day exploring the Windermere area. It is so easy to get too by car and the bus stops at the end of the road are Read morea real bonus when we wanted a car free day. We would highly recommend booking this bungalow. Hide
