Really lovely accommodation, good location as just a 10 - 15 minute walk across some fields to the village, with some lovely pubs, shops & restaurants all in close proximity. Excellent quality furnishings and interior, relatively spacious and definitely plenty of room for 2 and a large dog! Directions to the property were extremely clear. It would Read morebe useful to have a more detailed guide on using the TV as it was impossible to find out how to get to 'normal' TV channels (for the older, technologically-challenged of us)! It would also be good to note that the parking space is VERY tight. We have a normal size saloon car, but needed to utilise space on nearby driveways to turn round in order to park correctly. Had we been in our other car, which is slightly longer and wider, we wouldn't have been able to park as there just wouldn't have been enough room Hide

Great little cottage, very clean and everything you need. Bed very comfy, slept better here than at home. Lovely view from the living room and balcony. Easy walk down into Hawkshead and lovely walks around the cottage. This is our second time staying at the cottage ( full weeks ) and would recommend staying here.

Lovely cottage, sunny and warm, super location. I loved the walk over the fields and through the cemetery from the cottage into Hawkshead (and back). I walked it every day, as I was without a car.

Felt at home immediately. Such a user friendly place. I dont think that there was anything missing. It was home from home regarding kitchen essentials. Half a mile walk to the village which was the friendliest place. We ate in 2 pubs and both were good. The only negative was that there was just a small terrace which was classed as a garden. Not reaRead morelly suitable for dogs but it didn't bother us because there were endless fields to walk them Highly recommended and would definitely return. Hide

Very quiet area just a 15 min walk to Hawkshead village. The holiday home had everything you need for a short or long break, we only had 3 nights. Great that dogs are allowed, and even though the place looks small on the outside, 2 people and a dog fitted nicely inside. Stunning view from the living room with opened onto secure outside area with a Read morebistro set. You have your own parking space, and as we found, we didn't really need the car once it was parked, just remember to take a torch, no street lights once out of Hawkshead village. It has a good selection of boardgames when nothing can be found on the TV when in for the night. Also, a pint of milk waiting in the fridge upon arrival. Hide

Amazing location, only a short drive to Ambleside and Windermere. Only a few minutes walk into the village with plenty of food / drink options once there. The property was spotless and had a homely feel to it. Everything you needed was right there whether that be the kitchen, washing facilities, breakfast on the balcony .....and it looks exactly asRead more described in the photos (if not better). Will definitely be booking again next summer. Hide

The Blue Duck was perfect for us to stay in. The property is quietly tucked away out of the road, but still a short walk from Hawkshead and a 10-12 minute drive to Coniston. The property is well laid out, well furnished and well equipped. The patio at the front is lovely to sit out on and watch the world go by ...including the deer on the hillside.Read more In terms of setting, we found Coniston quicker to get to than Ambleside (and easier to park in) - it has an Indian restaurant, garage, chip shop and we really liked The Sun pub - look it up, it's well hidden. Ambleside isn't too far away either however... Hawkshead itself has a Co-op and some nice restaurants (although these were always booked up, hence Coniston...) Just down the road there is a coffee shop where you can sit on the edge of the lake, 2 miles over the hill you get to Grizedale and its really well marked trails. There's also a nice little footpath for walking into Hawkshead, if you don't want to use the road all the time - check this on the map, it's pretty much hidden. All in all, you won't struggle for things to do for a week or so, and if you don't want to do anything, it's a lovely spot to sit still. Hide
