You'll find the amazing Stock Ghyll Force (300 metres) nearby, making trips to see this spectacular 70-foot-tall waterfall a breeze. The delightful sound of the falls is never far away while you're sitting in the cottage's garden. Alternatively, head to Waterhead Pier in Ambleside (1 mile) and climb aboard a boat to enjoy views of the Lakeland fells on a cruise to Bowness-on-Windermere or Lakeside. For a culinary treat, head into Grasmere (4 miles) to sample its world-famous gingerbread. While you're there, explore Dove Cottage, where the poet William Wordsworth once lived.

Pull up in your private parking area (there's room for two cars) and store your outdoor gear in the entrance porch. Step inside your cottage and you'll be greeted by a spacious open-plan lounge/diner that's bathed in natural light from expansive windows that frame the beautiful country views. Take a moment to appreciate the sophisticated blend of crisp white walls and natural wood furnishings, before you head to the sleek kitchen to whip up some dinner. Get everyone together to eat at the dining table while you soak up the garden views. Head upstairs and you'll find three lovely bedrooms – a stylish king-size with dual-aspect windows, a twin and a single with cabin-style bunk bed (not suitable for children under five). A smart family bathroom with a shower over the bath completes the layout.

Perfect. Great accomodation in a great location, perfect for the group of 5 people that we were. A great price for the Easter weekend too. Would stay again without a moment's hesitation.

Great place to stay - very comfortable and perfect location - easy stroll into town and easy to start many circular walks from. Very comfy beds! The house is welcoming and well thought out with everything you need.

A lovely house. Spacious and very well equipped. Perfectly positioned for a short walk into Ambleside or up onto the surrounding hills. The garage was a complete bonus for mountain bikes tooo.

This is the fourth time we have stayed at Ghyll End Cottage. Each time the stay has been wonderful. The property is well equipped and beautifully kept. The owners have had decking fitted with a nice outdoor dining suite since our last stay, which was really nice to sit on after a busy days walking. Wouldn't hesitate to come back again. We enjoyed a lovely week at Ghyll End. The house was very clean, comfortable, well equipped and spacious. Just a few minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside but in a very quiet and peaceful location. The property has a lovely garden and decking area which is lovely to sit outside on a sunny day. Great views from the many windows in the house. TheRead more Hawkshead Relish welcome gift and milk in the fridge on arrival was a lovely gesture and very much appreciated. We will definitely be staying at Ghyll End again and are already looking forward to our next visit. We were delighted to see a deer in the front garden on our final morning. A great place to stay. We loved the house, well equipped, clean and brilliant location, right next to the entrance of the Stock Ghyll waterfall walk in Ambleside, only 10 mins walk to town centre. Hope to return sometime.
