Whisk your special someone off for a romantic break at this charming detached stone cottage located just outside Ambleside. Sleeping two people in one bedroom, this is an ideal accommodation option for couples in search of a peaceful retreat to call home while they explore the untamed landscapes of the Lake District together. Head into Ambleside (1 mile) to spend a happy few hours discovering its traditional Lakeland architecture and iconic 18th-century Bridge House. Afterwards, head to the town's Waterhead Pier and climb aboard a boat for a cruise of Lake Windermere. Set off for a stroll around the lovely Rydal Mount and Gardens (3.5 miles). As the home of poet William Wordsworth for nearly 40 years, it inspired many of his works. Alternatively, head into Hawkshead (5 miles) to stroll its historic streets, see where the author Beatrix Potter lived, and browse the galleries and cafes.

Step inside your traditional stone-built cottage and leave your outdoor gear in the porch. Inside, you'll be greeted by an inviting open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. Slip onto the sofa and take a moment to admire the homely atmosphere, which is defined by soothing neutral tones, a cosy electric fire and exposed timber plank ceilings, before heading to the kitchen area to whip up some dinner. Share a dinner for two in the dining area and then head over to the lounge to enjoy a chilled glass of wine by the cosy electric fire. At the end of the day, retire to the beautifully styled double bedroom. A handy shower room completes the layout.

Outside, you'll find a spacious enclosed courtyard complete with outdoor furniture for romantic al fresco dinners. There is also an expansive front lawn. Private parking is available for one car.

Ideal situation for us with two dogs. Good walks available on the doorstep. Clean and practical cottage with excellent underfloor heating and constant hot water. Tiled floors meant we could keep the cottage clean. Really enjoyed our stay.
