Escape with your special someone to this stylish converted stable in the market town of Ambleside. Sleeping two people in one bedroom, it's a perfect accommodation option for couples who are dreaming of a romantic retreat to call home while they explore the Lake District together. Make a beeline for Waterhead Pier (0.5 miles) and hop aboard a boat to cruise the waters of Lake Windermere – England's longest lake. Alternatively, head into the pretty village of Grasmere (4 miles) to visit Dove Cottage – the former home of the poet William Wordsworth – and sample some famously mouthwatering Grasmere gingerbread. Or head into Hawkshead (5 miles) to either see the old grammar school where Wordsworth went to school, or visit Hill Top House, where the author Beatrix Potter lived. Later in the day, come home to Ambleside to explore its great selection of shops, galleries, tea rooms and pubs.

Leave your outdoor gear in the porch and step inside this characterful former stable. You'll be greeted by a bright and cheerful open-plan lounge/snug/kitchen/dining area, where exposed timber ceiling beams and cool slate flooring create a striking modern-rustic aesthetic. Head to the sleek, farmhouse-style kitchen area to whip up some dinner to share with your special someone at the round wooden dining table. Afterwards, pour yourself a glass of wine and snuggle up to bask in the glow of the striking wood burner in the snug area. At the end of the day, climb the spiral staircase upstairs, and you'll find a large king-size bedroom complete with an en-suite bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower (please note there is no bathroom door).

While there is no outdoor space, you can experience all the charming energy of central Ambleside right from your doorstep. A parking permit for a nearby car park is provided.

We are regular visitors to Ambleside and this was our first visit to this beautiful, well equipped, clean and very comfortable cottage; yes parking could be an issue in high season, but would not detract us from returning. Highly recommend, Thank you.

Very comfortable and well equipped. Great location for quick access to Ambleside. Car parking a little walk away. Open plan to the extreme (including bathroom) which might not be to everyone's liking.

Lovely house - even better than the photographs. Incredibly comfortable bed. Location was ideal for walking into Ambleside. I was a bit concerned about the lack of parking with the house but certainly in November this wasn't an issue at all. Would happily return.

Very nice place to stay, looks exactly like the pictures and matches the listing description. Ideal location and place for a couple to stay. Open plan living is great, although there is no door to the bathroom it was still a really nice place to be, glad we found this listing.

We had a lovely stay in the heart of the lake district. The appartment was very clean and tastefully furnished. there is no door between bedroom and bathroom and the automatic lights by the bathroom went off everytime someone walked past, which was a bit annoying at night time. upon arriving, you'll get a parking permit which can use in various carRead more parks. overall, we had a perfect stay and would stay again :) Hide

Was a really nice place to stay for two people. Everything you could need in the kitchen is provided, bathroom also high standard. Everywhere was very clean. Can recommend if you don't have or want to use a car, we came up via train and the buses in Ambleside are very reliable. A few things that might be useful for future guests to know, these are Read morethe items provided so you don't have to pack them: washing up liquid; washing up sponge; dish washer tablets; laundry tabs; hand soap; tea and coffee. Also, be aware the bedroom is not pitch dark at night. This is due to the safety light on the stairs (there is no door). Hide

A well-presented cosy one-bed cottage with all mod cons including a good speed wi-fi. The location is off the busy main road so traffic noise is quiet at night. It's conveniently close to the town centre and even closer to buses which will take you round the lakes. There are detailed instructions on use of the facilities and plenty of local informaRead moretion leaflets and maps. Ours was a walking holiday and there are plently of spectacular circular walks from Ambleside itself, one which basically sets off from the front door. The cottage was always a pleasure to come back to after a long day's outing. Hide
