An enticing hideaway for couples, this peaceful property is set right by the River Brathay in Clappersgate. Sleeping two guests, the cosy one-bedroom cottage is perfect for that relaxed Lakeland retreat. Less than 1 mile from vibrant Ambleside, with its shops and eateries, it is only slightly further from Waterhead, where you can hire motor or rowing boats or hop aboard a lake cruise. Alternatively, lace up your boots and step straight out to follow a footpath up to Todd Crag, 0.5 miles away. Stride further on to reach Loughrigg Fell, 2.5 miles away. The National Trust's beautiful Stagshaw Gardens and the picturesque waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force are both a 1.5-mile walk from the cottage. Other beauty spots well worth visiting include the National Trust's splendid Tarn Hows, 5 miles away, and the dramatic Cathedral Cavern, 4 miles away. Coniston Water, with its walks and scenery, is just 7 miles away.

Let yourselves into the cottage via the front door. Hang your coats and leave your boots before taking four steps down to find yourselves in the hallway. Wander on through to discover stylish accommodation that has been created with your comfort in mind. Head through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner to relax and spend quality time together. Choose a book from the shelves or find a film on TV. Cuddle up on the sofa to make plans for the following day. The kitchen area has been arranged with everything you need to help you cater for yourselves whenever you choose not to dine out. Rustle up tasty dishes here with Lakeland produce, then sit down to meals for two at the table. Choose whether to lounge in the bath tub or enjoy a refreshing shower before making your way through to the immaculate double bedroom for a perfect night's sleep.

Sip your first cup of tea of the day on the bench to the front of the cottage. Stroll over to the shared waterside garden to spot the native wildlife and listen to the sound of the river rushing by. There is parking for one car with the cottage.

A quaint cottage in an excellent location only a short walk from Ambleside. Lovely snug sitting room and comfortable bedroom. It was very nice to have a bath/shower. Washing machine was super useful to have and we cooked in several times.

Fantastic location, only a short walk to Ambleside which is a bustling little Town, full of great dog friendly pubs to finish an off a long day of walking. There are many beautiful walks on your doorstep at this location. Some that you can walk straight to or others than you can take a short drive to and take in all the views the Lake District has Read moreto offer. Getting to the property was easy, directions were given via email and explained everything to the T. We had a couple of teething problems with the property on the first day, but they were all rectified immediately and everything was in working condition by the time we returned from our walk. We'd certainly return! Hide

Small cottage for one or two people, tasteful decor lots of information with nice views over an historic courtyard. Seating outside was in the shade and could have been made more inviting. Limited cooking and dining utensils.
