A stay at this holiday cottage on a working Lakeland farm near Hawkshead offers couples and small families the chance to slow down, reconnect with nature and experience the rhythm of rural life in the heart of the Lake District National Park. 1 mile from Hawkshead, you can wander the village's cobbled lanes, browse independent shops and visit the historic Beatrix Potter Gallery, set in a 17th-century building. For lakeside adventures, head 3 miles to Esthwaite Water, perfect for peaceful walks or a picnic with far-reaching views. The western shore of Lake Windermere is around 4 miles away, where you can hire rowing boats or take a scenic cruise. For walking opportunities, Latterbarrow (2 miles) is a relatively short, family-friendly climb with panoramic vistas. Alternatively, explore the trails around Grizedale Forest (4 miles), where woodland paths and outdoor sculptures keep younger visitors entertained.

Discover the warmth of open-plan living from the moment you enter. The cosy lounge centres around an open fire – a welcoming focal point after a day of exploring – with a TV, DVD player and CD player for easy evenings in. The adjoining dining area is made for unhurried meals and board games, while the well-equipped kitchen includes everything needed for a self-catering stay. Upstairs, two inviting bedrooms provide a restful retreat. Bedroom one hosts a comfortable double bed, while bedroom two offers a snug single for a child or additional guest. The bright and airy bathroom, complete with a shower over the bath, completes the internal layout.

Outside, the patio is set with garden furniture, creating a lovely spot for morning coffee or evening drinks, and there's a BBQ for laid-back al fresco dining. A shared lawned area to the front of the cottages provides room to stretch out and socialise, while private parking adds everyday convenience.

The accommodation was absolutely beautiful, in a fantastic location, with beautiful views of all the mountains and surrounding countryside. It was also centrally located, and only a short 15 minute walk into the village of hawkshead. The cottage also had a lovely open log fire, which we lit every single night.

A lovely, comfortable and spacious cottage in a quiet location. The bedrooms are spacious with comfy beds, the lounge has a very comfortable sofa which reclines with footrests. The cottage was warm and had plenty of space to dry & store damp clothes and shoes. The enclosed terrace was perfect for storing our bikes. The log store was much appreciateRead mored for evenings in front of the fire. A footpath goes into Hawkshead from the property and saves driving and expensive parking. It is a 20 minute walk. The cottage is perfectly placed for cycling. We did 4 different routes from the cottage, without having to drive. Hide
