We loved the location of North Cottage and felt that it served our needs well as an ideal place to use as our base for the week. Great to have the use of the car park. Lucky as not high season we managed to get a spot bar one occasion. Good to read others comments as to where to walk, eat and or drink. We loved our trip to the cinema. Walking from Read morethe door was a real bonus. We were lucky to experience a cloud inversion as we walked up to Low peak, High peak and Scandale fell. Hide

Could not, in all honestly, recommend this cottage for anyone to stay in. It has been left uninvested in for too long and is now a shadow of its former self. We were shocked and dismayed at the uncared for state of this property.

This is a warm, cosy base for exploring the Lakes but as other reviews have noted, it really does need a more thorough clean and some of the furnishings need to be updated to bring it back up to standard for the price paid. I hope the owner and Holiday Cottages take note. That being said, this didnt spoil our holiday. The outdoor area & view was faRead morentastic, shower was great, and parking permit was appreciated. Located at the heart of Ambleside and within easy reach of all local amenities. Loading and unloading can be tricky due to a steep slope and limited space but we have a smaller car so didn't find it an issue but we did see other guests struggling. The lovely cottage was very clean and fully equipped. It's in an ideal quiet location, but still very near the shops and bars/restaurants of Ambleside. Having a car park pass was a real bonus. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom towels very soft. Would highly recommend this cottage and we hope to return again in the future.

It was our second visit to North Cottage, but the cleanliness and equipment wasnt as good as before.
