Brookside Cottage is a fantastic traditional Lakeland stone cottage in Windermere, sleeping 6 people in comfort with a beautiful garden complete with a stream running through.

Discover this characterful, three-storey, traditional slate cottage – an ideal location for a restful holiday for a family, couple or friends looking for a peaceful base from which to explore the surrounding Lake District National Park. The boats at Bowness-on-Windermere are just a mile away and Windermere town centre is only half a mile away. Just a short drive away are Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre (3 miles), Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s former home (12 miles) and the hiking areas of Wansfell Pike (5 miles), Grasmere (8.5 miles) and Grizedale Forest (13 miles).

This is a beautiful property, thoughtfully renovated and elegantly furnished, combining the feel of a traditional cottage with the best of contemporary living. On the ground floor is the spacious kitchen, which has everything you need to create delicious dishes. Adjacent to the kitchen is the lounge, which features an impressive fireplace with an open fire, comfortable seating and a Smart TV. There's a large dining table in this open-plan room too. The first floor encompasses one king-size bedroom and a three-quarter double bedroom, as well as a bathroom. On the second floor, there are two more bedrooms, one king-size and one single. Both rooms have a TV and reduced headroom.

Outside, there's a gorgeous hidden garden with a pretty patio area with seating and views of the beck. The beck can be crossed via stepping-stones, or you can avoid these by using the side gate to enter the lawned garden, an idyllic spot to unwind.

Fabulous cottage loved it so much, very high quality fittings. The tub of Christmas chocolates and the bottle of wine was a lovely touch. Location was very good as well would definitely return to this cottage

This is the first time we have used Original Cottages and I dont think it will be the last. Our property was in an idea location, if you turn left out of the gate it is an easy walk to Windermere centre with its variety of shops. Turn right and walk to the lake were you can have a pleasant time on the water and afterwards buy an ice cream.

The location is excellent and in walking distance of Windermere and Bowness. The property is well maintained and fitted with all the necessary amenities. The layout is great for families. The garden has a stream running through it, which is great to relax with while having a drink on the patio. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

Great property, picturesque. Great location as only 5 minutes walk into windermere and 15 minutes if you want to go to Bowness. Loved staying here and would book again.

The location was perfect, the garden was brilliant, especially the little Brook running through it. The cottage had everything you could possibly need. It was very clean and we loved the little extras. Definitely be going back!

We had a wonderful stay here in Brookside Cottage! The weather was very lovely and we visited many castles and halls. The landscape is very beautiful and we enjoyed hiking a lot. Thank you for the wonderful cottage stay! We enjoyed it very much.

On initial entrance to the cottage, we were all bowled over by its beautiful presence. Especially the maidens in our party on its facilities. Its very well equipped with all amenities needed, and hits a six on all boundaries. It is certainly a cottage we will not boycott on future visits to the Lakes, and hope to plan a second innings. I would have given 5 for everything as the description left out that the 1st floor landing was dangerous (banister stopped short and left a gap to fall down stairs) we wanted to put our elderly mother in the 3/4 bed but in the end had to re-jig who slept where. The attic stairs and the fact that I had to bend double to get under the beam to get intRead moreo bed meant I had to sleep in a bumpy single bed. It was very hard to get up and the stairs. I feel complete descriptions should be made available with accurate pictures. Not simply showing a beam which makes no sense till you get up there. Hide
