Perched above the village of Chapel Stile with glorious views across to Lingmoor Fell and further down the valley towards the magnificent Langdales, this cottage is a beautifully presented, end terrace house for a Lake District getaway. Chapel Stile’s shop and pub are just a few hundred metres away, with Elterwater village a mile down the road too. There are a number of restaurants there as well. Plus, right from the front door, guests are spoilt for choice with walks against breath taking scenery in every direction. Many of the lakes are nearby – for instance, beautiful Grasmere is less than 4 miles away.

Enter the cottage through the porch which houses the washer/dryer, and has storage for coats and boots too. From there, the house opens up into the kitchen which has everything guests need to rustle up delicious meals. Also on the ground floor is a contemporary bathroom with a shower over the bath. Across the hall is the first of the two attractive bedrooms which is a twin room with cheerful, colourful decor. The pretty double room with king-size bed is upstairs and has some sloping ceilings, built-in storage and stunning views from its window. The stylish, open-plan lounge/dining area looks out onto Lingmoor Fell, ensuring the comfortable seating and dining table all enjoying views out towards the falls.

Stepping outside, guests can enjoy a charming garden with plenty of seating. The lawned area is shared between the 4 cottages on this row. Outside the porch entrance to the left, there is a doggy shower area.

Very cosy with great views and no light pollution for star gazing. So many walks from the doorstep with a cracking pub just down the road.

The location of this cottage is perfect. Walks can be done everyday from the door if you wish. The view in the back garden could be no better. If you are lucky to see the sunset its the perfect location for it. Been twice this year and will be coming back again.

A perfect week, great accommodation, great views, walks, scenery - the list goes on. Chesters on the River is a lovely little pit stop for coffee, lunch and cake. Very sad to be going home!

I've enjoyed the views across beautiful Langdale and watching the antics of birds on feeders - including a young Sparrow hawk who was practicing its hunting skills on the hydrangeas! Despite mixed weather we have done some lovely walks - Cathedral Caves/Slaters Bridge was a big hit with the kids and they also enjoyed some impromptu ghyll scramblingRead more up Stickle Ghyll on the way up to Stickle tarn. Thanks Claire for tip on the wonderful wild swimming spot under the bridge opposite the cottage - crystal clear water and mountain views - absolutely gorgeous, I'd swim there every day if I could! Thanks for a lovely stay in your cosy, well equipped cottage and for your quick replies to my texts. Hide

The cottage was a good place to stay for a few days, BUT, the toilet seat was broken and needs re-fixing, the front and kitchen door locks may need replacing as both were difficult to work and the blind over the window in the lounge once down, would not pull back up. I would have expected all of these issues to have been corrected before our stay.Read more We were also surprised that the main "bedroom" is in fact an open mezzanine floor with a severely sloping roof making it uncomfortable to use and making it difficult to have any quiet from the lounge below, if someone wants to watch TV etc ... Finally, the cottage information suggests a "full Sky package" which is not true as it was not possible to access Sky Sports ... Please also be aware that we had to cut short our stay by 24 hours as "ElectricityNW" arrived on Tuesday morning, woke us up and advised that "the power was being switched off for the rest of the day. As the bathroom is an enclosed space needing electricity to light the room, it would not have been possible to use the kettle, electric hob, TV or WiFI we chose to leave on Tuesday lunchtime rather than stay until our planned departure on Wednesday morning. It is true that I received 2 voice messages (one left on Monday late afternoon and a second on Tuesday morning) to advise about this, but as Toffee Cottage is in an area with NO phone signal, these messages were not received until we got home on Tuesday afternoon! Surely it would have been good customer service to send WhatsApp messages and/or emails to advise this situation as I can only assume that your local staff would be aware that a phone message would not be received ... I will look forward to your reply and comments, but hope that you will consider some degree of refund / compensation for the situations described above. Many thanks, Steve Hide

The property has been well renovated, we were here three years ago. It is well presented and equipped. The fridge is far to small, even for two people even less for a family. Otherwise it is an excellent property.
