This fantastic property is located near the small hamlet of Crook. Situated only 5 miles from Bowness on Windermere and 3 miles from the market town of Kendal, it’s an ideal base to explore the Lake District National Park as part of a romantic getaway. The World of Beatrix Potter is a nostalgic experience for all the family over in Bowness, and while here, you could hop on a cruise to take in the magnificent Windermere lake from the water. Venture into Kendal to try their famous cake, and for more days out, the National Trust sites of Sizergh and Fell Foot are both within 12 miles.

On entering the property, climb up two steps to the first room – a contemporary bathroom with its double-sized walk-in shower, sink and heated mirror. The bathroom is tiled in granite with an oak floor which runs throughout the property. Down the stairs (which has low headroom), you’ll find the open-plan living room and a fully fitted, equipped, modern kitchen with oven, microwave, and hob. The room is completed by a comfortable seating, a TV and Bluetooth speaker with a small dining table – a perfect room for relaxing after a day exploring. Wonderful, underfloor heating runs below the entire ground floor. Just off the living area is the bedroom with a king-size bed and plenty of storage space. The bed can be split into a twin set; if this is required please state at the time of booking. There is an abundance of natural light in the downstairs area, with windows offering views over the garden area and the countryside beyond.

Outside there is a fully enclosed garden, with a private area designated for use by guests. It has outdoor furniture making it a great spot for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine, taking in the views of the rolling countryside.

  • 1 zip-and-link king bed that can made into a twin on request when booking
  • 1 bathroom with walk-in shower and WC
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer
  • TV and Bluetooth speaker
  • Enclosed garden with a private area with outdoor furniture
  • Private parking for 1 car
  • Bicycle storage upon request

We had a wonderful stay at the Sheep Pen. It was clean and cosy and had everything that we needed for our stay in the Lake District. The owners were fantastic hosts - very welcoming and informative. The basement property is in a good location with an excellent pub within walking distance. Nearby Staveley has a great cafe/bakery, pub and other useful shops. Plumgarths farmshop, cafe and an artisan bakery are just down the road and worth visiting. The property is clean, comfortable and the underfloor heating was effective. The stairs down to thRead moree lower ground floor living room area has low head height all the way down and there is also a low beam in the living room area. There is no longer a bicycle storage area at the property which was an issue as we were in the Lake District for a cycle sportive. Hide

Thank you for a lovely stay. We have had an amazing visit to the Lakes after 12 years! The rain didn't stop us at all. We loved Easedale Tarn. We can't wait to return! Thank you so much for the beers, such a kind gift - we enjoyed them in your garden watching the sunset.

We had a lovely stay at the Sheep Pen, and it was a great location from which to explore surrounding areas. Although apart from a single pub, very little within reasonable walking distance. This was stated up front though so not much of a criticism really. Property was nice and cool in the hot weather and the hosts next door were very welcoming andRead more helpful. Very dog friendly place as well. Hide

The Sheep Pen was in an amazing location and so SO clean! It was the perfect place to cosy up after long days hiking. We bumped into the owners briefly and they seemed really relaxed and friendly. Would absolutely stay at the sheep pen again!

We have stayed here twice now , its all we want in a holiday somewhere clean , comfortable and a good location. The road can get busy first thing but not a problem as usually about the time we are getting ready to go out. Andy and Theresa are great hosts.

An amazing basement conversion of a farm house. In a great location, easy to find. The owners were very helpful and friendly. It was clean and had everything you needed for a break. This would be perfect for a couple or friends. The layout also means you can use the shower room and wet room. The only downside was the access to the garden. Looking Read moreon the pictures youd think you could access it directly. However you had to leave through the front door and go around the side. This was an inconvenience with the dog but we was able to work around it. Hide
