Whinlatter Forest (2 miles) has numerous mountain bike trails and a high ropes course at Go Ape. The village has two pubs and two restaurants, with the local pub serving food and ale just next door. The market town of Keswick on the banks of Derwentwater is just 2 miles away with a variety of independent shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as the Pencil Museum, Puzzle Place House of Illusions, and the Theatre by the Lake.

This is a lovely house, beautifully maintained and decorated. There are full cooking facilities and all the utensils you would need. The views from the cottage are great and there are many walks that can be done from the door. Both the pubs in the village have friendly staff with the Coledale Inn having the better food.
