Traditional stone property set in the stunning Buttermere Valley, between the peak of Grasmoor and the northern tip of Crummock Water. A haven for walkers of all abilities, whether it’s just a flat ramble around a lake and woodland or a hill climb up a relentless fell. Keen walkers should visit Grasmoor (0.5 miles), Haystacks (17 miles) and Mellbreak (4 miles) with the promise of spectacular views at the top on a clear day! Enjoy a visit to the historic town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, (7.5 miles), or the bustling town of Keswick (12 miles) has numerous attractions including Theatre on the Lake, as well as ghyll scrambling, canyoning, kayaking or paddleboarding available.

As you enter the property, you will find yourself in the traditional country-style kitchen with a tiled floor, informal dining and some storage for coats and muddy walking boots. There are two steps from the kitchen down into the hallway and off the hallway, there is a lobby area with access out to the garden and a handy WC. Further along the hallway down one step, you will find yourself in the welcoming lounge. This room has comfortable seating, a stunning fireplace with a cosy wood burner, and an armchair which offers the perfect place to curl up with a good book on a chilly evening. There is a Smart TV in the lounge and an atmospheric formal lounge which is open-plan to the rear of the seating area. There is access out onto the patio and to the garden from the French doors in the lounge. Head back into the hallway and you will find the original spiral stone staircase up to the first floor. There are three spacious bedrooms on the first floor, one king-size, one double (one bedroom is accessed via three steps from the landing) and a twin. There is a family bathroom mid-landing.

The pretty enclosed country garden is accessed from either the lobby or lounge. There is a patio directly outside the lounge and lots of lawns and trees to shelter under on a warm day. The views over the fields, fells and valley are breathtaking whatever the weather.

There will not be many cottages that have a view like this one. Excellent place to stay if you want to walk the fells from your doorstep.

We had a fantastic week in this special cottage in an idyllic location. We were a group of four and found it spacious and comfortable for the size of our group. Lovely area for walking and we swam in Crummock Water on hot days. Kirkstile Inn recommended, great food and friendly. Cockermouth had a good array of shops and is a 15 minutes drive for thRead moree supermarket. This is a lovely property if you want a place to stay thats off the beaten track but close enough to main towns to be accessible. Hide

The house is in the most perfect location very close to Crummock water. Its very easy to walk straight from the door and Buttermere is only 10 minutes in the car. The house is very homely and generally well equipped. The bedrooms are light and airy, theres a great bathroom too. The rooms downstairs are very pleasant too. Lovely location, very cosy cottage. The kitchen was very well equipped, however, I will say that, no tea, coffee etc, are provided, so do be prepared to take everything with you, including salt and pepper. During our stay we had to batten down the hatches from storm Agnes, so we stocked up on logs, and spent a lovely afternoon/evening in front of tRead morehe fire. We did manage to do some great walks from the door. Would definitely recommend this lovely cottage. Hope to return again soon. Hide

This is a beautiful house in a wonderful location; the location really could not be bettered for the views. The house has a very well equipped kitchen, and is spacious and clean. It feels remote but is only 20 minutes from Cockermouth and 10 minutes from Buttermere. Lots of great walks on the doorstep.
