Close to Keswick and Whinlatter Forest Park, this traditional Lakeland farmhouse makes a tranquil retreat for up to eight guests exploring the heart of the Lake District. Set in idyllic surroundings, the property features original exposed timber beams, an oak porch, slate floors, two warming wood burners, exposed stonework and antique furniture, making a wonderful getaway for larger families and friends. Ideally situated for Bassenthwaite Lake, Derwentwater and Skiddaw, this beautifully updated property is perfect for walkers, cyclists, climbers and water sports fans experiencing this spellbinding region.

The pretty lounge features wooden beams and a welcoming wood burner, making it an ideal space to settle back and watch a movie. An additional snug has a TV/DVD and wood burner, so there’s plenty of room for everyone. The traditional country-style kitchen/diner has plenty of equipment for preparing and sharing your favourite family dishes. Finally, the ground floor offers a refreshing family bathroom with a relaxing freestanding bath. This room was formerly a larder and still has original meat hooks in the ceiling. Heading up the wide winding staircase, you will have a choice of four cosy bedrooms: an en-suite king-size room, an en-suite double, a twin and a bunk bedroom. Outside, the lovely front garden has a large lawn perfect for children to play on, and there’s a relaxing patio to the back with plenty of outdoor furniture and a BBQ, making a lovely spot for admiring the surrounding countryside as you dine alfresco.

The vibrant town of Keswick (3.5 miles) is home to attractions including the Derwent Pencil Museum, Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Puzzling Place and the Theatre by the Lake on the edge of Derwentwater. Also nearby are Whinlatter Forest Park, the Lake District Wildlife Park and Mirehouse and Gardens on the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake (all within 7.5 miles).

Our family stayed for a week in October and had an excellent stay at the house. It's a beautiful location with fantastic views, and good access for local walks. A well equipped house, particularly the kitchen. Very spacious too!

Hall Garth Farm is in a superb location and extremely private. The house is full of character, heads need to be ducked in a few places and the stairs in some parts need careful negotiation. There is plenty of space for a large family or group. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. Plenty of walks nearby and for family fun the WhiRead morenlatter forest has Go Ape, a Gruffalo Trail and Bike hire facilities. Of course wonderful views and Lakes to discover.
