Escape to the beautiful Cumbrian village of Cartmel and stay in this luxurious retreat that’s perfect for two, swapping the daily grind for delicious local fare, scenic walks and cosy evenings snuggled by the fire. Endlessly charming and brimming with home comforts, this traditional cottage is nestled at the heart of the village close to the variety of tempting eateries and the 3 Star Michelin L"Enclume Restaurant. Discover the windswept wilderness of the Lake District National Park by day, and by night, crack open the wine and prepare to unwind in style.

Inside, the open-plan living space is a peaceful sanctuary characterised by mood lighting, fresh decor and a wood burner crackling in the fireplace. Curl up with tasty treats and a good film of an evening, and in the morning, perch at the table with your coffee and croissants to plan your day. The elegant kitchen can be found by climbing a few steps, welcoming hungry guests with country-cottage charm and everything you need to prepare a feast. Follow the handcrafted staircase to the first floor at bedtime to discover a gorgeous bedroom complete with its high ceiling, exposed beams and fabulous en-suite shower room with walk-in shower. On sunny afternoons, the pretty garden is a delight for al fresco BBQs and features a stone shelter for all-weather enjoyment. Roadside parking for one car is available.

Stroll around the village at leisure, visiting the impressive 14th-century priory and the array of independent shops, not forgetting the iconic cheese shop. Grange-over-Sands is a pleasant 2.5-mile walk through the countryside, where you can explore the ornamental gardens and sample artisan produce from the popular bakery. Admire the views of the estuary from the Victorian promenade, and be sure to pick up a few goodies from the chocolate shop to savour later.

Lovely comfortable and clean cottage only a short walk from Cartmel village. Car park space although small was big enough for my 4x4. Village is lovely with good choice of restaurants and only 15 min drive to Windermere where you can get boat to Bowness and Ambleside. Would have no hesitation in recommending

Cottage was excellent, high standard of decor and fittings. Kitchen was very well equipped, with everything we needed and more. Location was close enough for a short stroll to the village centre, but far enough away to avoid any noise.

2 Bridges Cottages was a delightful base too explore the Southern Lakes and the peninsular coastline, The larger fells and lakes are a little further away but are an easy scenic drive for a day out. Cartmell had a real buzz and really enjoyed eating out in the village. Perfect for what we wanted.
