Tucked on the outskirts of the idyllic village of Allithwaite, this three-storey stone cottage offers weary travellers a peaceful haven at the foot of the Lake District. Sleeping five guests across three bedrooms, this delightful property not only offers access to the heather swept moors of Kirkby but also the coastal gems of Grange-over-Sands and Morecombe Bay. And with the cobbled streets of Cartmel only 2 miles away, this cottage holds the key to some of Cumbria's best-kept secrets.

Inside, the quirky interior is full of rustic touches. From the open fire of the first-floor lounge to the antique maps on the dining room wall, this property hums with rural charm. After a day of seaside strolls or saunters on the Cumbrian Way, relax and unwind on the first-floor balcony as you savour the views of the garden and beyond. The garden itself features a BBQ and outdoor seating so the whole family can enjoy a spot of stargazing at night time. Then, after a peaceful night's sleep in one of three comfortable bedrooms, plan your day's outing with coffee on the front patio. Or simply spend the day soaking in the wonderful spa bath.

Set between the Lake District and the Cumbrian coast, Allithwaite makes an idyllic centre for walking and sailing. Traverse the meandering Cistercian Way or take on the sprawling Cumbrian Coastal Way for wonderful sea views. For a leisurely stroll, try the 3-mile route through the seaside retreat of Grange-over-Sands and Station Square. Or why not take a boat out from Roa Island (23 miles)? It's a great alternative to some of the more crowded sailing spots like Lake Windermere. After a day of adventure, feed your curiosity on Cartmel's fabulous collection of restaurants, delis and independent artisans.

A lovely, cosy, comfortable cottage that is well equipped and plenty of room. Good size kitchen and sitting room. Lots of ( creaking!) stairs, but that was not a problem for us. You can sit outside and watch the birds and listen to the beck flowing at the bottom of the garden. It's also a sun trap at the front in the evening. What a beautiful country cottage! Wolf cottage was clean and well equipped for our comfort. There were handy throws in the living room that we were grateful for when we sat on the balcony to listen to the owls. The kitchen is well equipped and a fair size, great to have a dish washer and the washing machine was appreciated to wash clothing before hRead moreeading home. The situation of the cottage is perfect. Just a few cottages in the row so it doesnt feel isolated but so calm/peaceful with the river. Hide

Beautiful cottage and great location - if you're tall do mind your head on the lampshades though as they are low and quite pointy

Peaceful location with a lovely stream at bottom of small back garden. Rooms and beds clean and comfortable, kitchen well equipped. Dairy farm selling lovely dairy products including ice cream nearby. However disappointed and surprised we were provided only 1 toilet roll per toilet and 2 dishwasher tablets. We were 5 adults staying 3 nights. Tea anRead mored coffee too only about 4 sachets each. You are expected to bring your own. Stayed in several self catering cottages but not encountered this before Hide

A fabulous place. The perfect back garden to relax in with a little stream for the dog to explore. The nearby Pheasant Inn is friendly and serves very good food. Lots of little walks around the place, one that includes a creamery that sells its own ice cream, which is delicious.
