Leaving the house turn left out of the driveway and stroll down East Lake Rd. to the gently lapping shores of Coniston water. Literature lovers will find themselves stepping into the pages of Arthur Ransome’s “Swallows, and Amazons”. Alternatively, if you turn right at the end of the driveway, you can follow the road to John Ruskin's house, Brantwood… Or if you wish to go further a field you'll find Beatrix Potter’s residence in Sawrey and of course there is Wordsworth’s Cottage in Grassmere.
