Keswick is a bustling town situated between Skiddaw and Derwentwater lake full of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Facilities such as the swimming pool, climbing walls and crazy golf provide fun for all the family. Considered the outdoor capital of the Lakes, there are lots of adventure activity providers for sailing, mountain biking, kayaking and ghyll scrambling. Keen walkers and hikers can tick off a few of Wainwrights’ favourites and tackle Skiddaw and Blencathra, both within 7 miles. Explore the lovely gardens and parkland at Mirehouse and Gardens, 4.5 miles whilst Wordsworth House, 13 miles, offers the chance for all ages to experience life in the 1770s. Travel 25 miles to The Solway Coast for a picnic on the beach and a seaside stroll.

Part of an elegant Georgian house that has been thoughtfully redesigned to retain its period charm, this cottage has been extended and updated to create a spacious, sleek and elegant holiday home. Enter the hallway and remove your boots and coats before heading to the delightful open-plan living space. The heart of the house, it stretches through to the rear patio. The living area has two deep red velvet sofas arranged around the wood burner ideal for cosy evenings in with a film on the TV. Step up into the kitchen/diner where underfloor heating keeps your toes warm and Velux windows and full-width, bi-fold doors create a sense of space and light. Equipped with a large electric range-style oven with five gas hobs, a fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher, gather at the hand-crafted dining table for sociable mealtimes. On warm days, open the doors to let the fresh air breeze in. A WC and utility cupboard completes the ground floor. Upstairs on the first floor, the first double bedroom has wonderful views to the fells and an en-suite shower room. There is a further double bedroom, and the spacious family bathroom has a shower over the bath. Up to the second floor, the bright twin bedroom has Velux windows looking out to the church and fells while the bathroom has a slipper bath with a hand-held shower attachment.

Outside to the rear and accessed from the living space, there is a wonderful walled garden with raised beds and a patio perfect for al fresco dining morning, noon and night. There is an outhouse laundry room with washer/dryer and plenty of space for bike storage.

Stylishly appointed with a rich and interesting history to accompany it, this house is spacious and generally comfortable (we would have preferred firmer mattresses) with a well equipped kitchen and beautiful garden. Four (!!) toilets and two showers powerful enough to cope with long hair. Great location and parking easy enough to find in a nearby Read moreroad. Helpful and responsive hosts. We enjoyed our stay and recommend this place to anyone who is OK with stairs. Hide

I honestly can not fault the place. We have such a wonderful time and the house was absolutely beautiful. Everything was such good quality and everything we needed was provided. We especially enjoyed how warm and cosy it was kept throughout our stay. Milk in the fridge on arrival and a lovely Lakeland cake and butter left out, such a lovely touch. Nice cottage. Not cleaned to a high standard. Lovely kitchen and bathrooms. The front room is a bit small and the couches have seen better days. In an ideal location but not a place we would return to.

Beautiful cottage, very well designed with lots of original features. The log burner was a welcome addition and the kitchen was very well equipped. The interior was so lovely, it was almost a shame to go out and leave it. The location is fantastic and communication with the owner was great. We will definitely be returning.

An excellent holiday stay right in the centre of Keswick. The photographs don't do it justice. The only downside is the lack of parking but we managed to park elsewhere after unloading. A really lovely place to stay!

What an amazing cottage. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. There is a beautiful space outside, which was fabulous for meals. The location is excellent as it's close to town but on a quiet street. Great welcome pack. This cottage was ideal as we were on holiday with my parents who are in their 80's and my daughter and her partner. It works out thaRead moret each couple had use of their own bathroom. The beds are so comfortable. It felt like a home from home. I cannot recommend this cottage enough. Hide

A lovely spacious cottage in a quiet peaceful location just a few minutes walk from the town centre with everything you need to make it a real home from home. We loved the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge.. perfect for the family to socialise after a day on the fells. Lots of reading material for local walking and hiking on the fells.
