The Cumbrian Lake District is unique amongst the English landscape, where for those of us who live here are truly fortunate to call it home. Managed by the National Parks and The National Trust we are, all in our own small way, stewards for this area of outstanding natural beauty, a true national treasure for all to experience and share.
Our magnificent lakes and forests, set against a backdrop of mountains and fells, have provided the inspiration for poets, writers and artists, and will offer you the perfect destination for your family holidays, relaxing breaks and romantic weekends. Adventure, exploration, bracing walks along with vibrant towns and villages offering art, culture and some of the best dining experiences in the country, all combine for the perfect destination.
Whichever roads you travel, you should experience this ancient, sublime landscape at least once in a lifetime - where it will be an experience of your lifetime - never forgotten, a place you will want to return.

Honeymoons - That Special Time
Your wedding day and your honeymoon should be the most memorable time of your life; it certainly was for me and still is. Choosing where you spend your first week or two of married life is very important, as you will rightly want the time to be as perfect as possible, leaving you with memories to share and cherish.
Cumbria’s Lake District is without doubt one of the most beautiful places in the world, with a landscape as romantic as you can get. It has inspired poets and artists, such as Tennyson and Wordsworth to name but a few. Perhaps the words of Charlotte Bronté best describe the essence of The Lake District. “The Lake country is a glorious region, of which I had only seen the similitude in dreams, waking or sleeping".
We are here to help you choose the perfect home for the perfect honeymoon. For more information go to our honeymoon page. If you need any guidance we would be delighted to help you choose just the right place for you.

Coniston Water is my favourite of the large southern Lake District waters. The lake offers plenty of access, along with boat trips and boat hire. The surrounding mountains, fells and forest are a joy, especially the Gizedale Forest and the mighty Coniston Old Man. There are bays to explore, trails to take you through wooded glades and welcoming inns in the village.
Our collection of properties in the Coniston area range from a grand Georgian Villa with land sweeping down to the lake shore, to a super retreat for two with lake access and a private hot tub
Cartmel is one of our most beautiful villages. A vibrant community with excellent dining, boasting the UK number one restaurant for 2014, L'Enclume, along with four pubs and a chic bistro. Our holiday cottages in and around the village are fabulous where for example you can choose from 5 Star Gold for eight, or a cosy cottage for four set on the river. For more info see our Cartmel Guide and our Cartmel Cottages.
For me Ullswater is the the best of the northern lakes. Easy to travel between north and south on the fantastic Kirkstone Pass, the lake offers some of the most beautiful walks in the Lake District, fun in, on and around the water and three welcoming villages. Our select collection of holiday homes in this area range from stunning 5 Star Gold to a quirky remote farmhouse on the east shore of the water.
Our latest addittion is Beehive Barn set in the pretty northern lakes village of Caldbeck. Perfect for both a romantic retreat for couples and as a base for small families holidays.
The fabulous 5 Star Gold Broad Oak is to have a garden spa ready for its guests by April 2014.
