INTRODUCTION

Yew Tree Cottage is situated in the sleepy village of Bouth, which is an attractive, peaceful place to stay and within easy reach of Lake Windermere and the town of Ulverston

PRE ARRIVAL

All enquiries, bookings etc; are handled by Lakeland Cottages Co (LCC )who have an excellent website and provide comprehensive information on the cottages and their facilities. The nearest bus stop is on the main road (A590) approximately 2 miles away. The nearest train stations are Ulverston or Grange-o-Sands both approximately 8 miles away. The nearest taxi service is 2 miles away at Beck Barrow. There is a taxi firm called Blue Works Taxi’s but they are not a large operation and at peak times pre-booking is advisable.

LOCAL FACILITIES

Greenodd Village is approximately 2.6 miles and a 7 minute drive from the property and provides the following services;

Petrol Station

Post Office

Village Shop (Local newspaper delivery available)

Fish and Chip Shop

Bakery

Butchers

The nearest supermarket is Booth’s which is approximately 5.3 miles from the cottage and a 10 minute drive.

The historic town of Ulverston is approximately 6.3 miles from the cottage.

ARRIVAL AND CAR PARKING FACILITIES

Full directions and parking at the cottages are supplied by LCC.

Parking to the right of the cottage on slate hard-standing and is shared with Ash Cottage. Room for 1 car per cottage.

Access to the cottage via front door via a step 5”/13cm high, (10 steps to side 36”/92cm wide 7”/18cm high lead to back door)

The cottage door is 36”/92cm wide 70”/178cm high and leads into open plan lounge/dining area and open plan kitchen.

Lounge has a 2-seater settee and easy chair. Also;

At the far end of the lounge is a small dining table with 2 bar chairs, kitchen with units on 2 sides and wall units on 2 sides with tiled floor.

Worktop 36”/92cm high with built in electric hob, double oven.

Built-in washing machine, combined dryer.

Microwave set on a free standing fridge with freezer section.

A set of 12 stairs (24”/61cm wide), lead up to 1st floor landing with door (30”/76cm wide 71”/181cm high) opening onto a garden area.

Down 2 steps (44”/112cm wide, 7”/18cm high) a door (24”/61cm  wide 77”/195 cm high) leads into bathroom with wash basin 32”/81cm high, toilet 15”/39cm high with 22”/56cm of free space in front, walk in shower cubicle with sliding door 15”/38cm wide.

Single wardrobe is situated on the landing for extra storage

Bedding is cotton with non-allergic quilts and pillows.

Heating is controlled by thermostat situated by bedroom door on 1st floor. All radiators have separate thermostats for temperature control.

 

From the landing there is a set of steps leading to a mezzanine area, these steps are very steep and for health and safety reasons this area is blocked off.

GROUNDS AND GARDEN

Gardens are accessed via 1st floor door from cottage down 2 steps (42”/107cm wide 7”/18cm high), or from steps at the side of the cottage.

The garden is on 2 levels with 4 steps (42”/107cm wide 8”/20cm high) onto each level.
