Overlooking Coniston Water, this traditional former stablehand’s cottage has been imaginatively updated to provide cosy and romantic accommodation for two. Ideal for a couple exploring the Lake District, the cottage also has plenty of space for a child to join, and is set in a stunning location on a beautiful country estate. One of a group of four holiday cottages, the property has access to shared gardens and a lovely private stretch of lakeside shore. There’s also access to a jetty, making it a great location for visitors wanting to bring their own boat onto the lake.

With a cosy, friendly lounge and a delightful country-style kitchen/diner, the cottage provides a fantastic space to relax in at the end of a wonderful day, complete with a traditional wood burner, slate flagstone flooring and beautiful lakeside views. There are also two comfortable bedrooms: a king-size room and a small bunk bedroom. Stepping outside, the large, shared garden is perfect for sitting back with a glass of wine in the evening. You will also have access through the grounds to the estate’s private shore on the lake – an ideal spot for picnics, paddling, fishing and keeping your boat.

A wonderful spot for boating, Coniston Water has inspired writers and artists including Beatrix Potter, Tennyson, Turner and Arthur Ransome of ‘Swallows and Amazons’ fame. With the mountains of the Old Man of Coniston in the distance, this is a fabulous area for walkers, hikers, cyclists and nature lovers. Nearby attractions include Grizedale Forest (5.5 miles) with its miles of walks, sculpture trail and Go Ape centre. Also nearby are Coniston (1.5 miles) and Hawkshead (3 miles) where you will find welcoming pubs and restaurants. A fantastic area for water sports enthusiasts, Windermere, Grasmere, Rydal Water and Esthwaite Water are all within 10 miles.

What a week! A gorgeous property in a stunning location. We had the best week and were lucky with the weather. The cottage had everything that we needed. With just a short walk to the lake edge, we spent every afternoon down there. We could not fault our stay, so peaceful, relaxing and a total switch off from everyday life. Definitely a property weRead morell stay again at! Hide

Lovely cottage in a great location. Immaculately clean and very well equipped. Spent a week there in July. The private lake access with 3 jetties was great for our paddle board/ kayak, and just 2 minutes walk from the cottage. Fabulous location with views over Coniston water and Coniston old man in the background. Would definitely recommend.
