The Old Police Station

The Old Police Station offers the ideal holiday home for families and couples, along with with all the amenities of a perfect Lakeland village. Set in the beautiful and popular village of Cartmel, the house lies a few minutes walk from the village centre where you will find a clutch of excellent inns, cafes and restaurants including the Michelin awarded L'Enclume, along with a fine selection of shops.

The owners have refurbished this quite substantial property, offering guests a comfortable and stylish house, perfect for easy living and relaxation.

The Living Spaces

From the private parking bay you enter into the kitchen. A large space, very well equipped with a AGA which has electric ovens and a gas hob, gleaming units and all mod cons, making it easy to prepare your favourite dish. To rear is a downstairs WC with basin.

From the kitchen you step into the dining room. Two large sash windows allow light to flood in, and with well chosen decor and furnishings makes for a pleasing place to spend time around the table with good food, wine and company.

From the dining room you cross over a small hall into the sitting room. Huge plump sofas are centered around a roaring log burning stove, where with soft lighting and pleasing ornament you can relax with friends or simply tuck up with a movie or best seller.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

Upstairs are the three bedrooms and main bathroom. Choose from either the double bedroom with en-suite shower or the second double bedroom, which can access the main bathroom. The bunk bedroom has a 4' 6" bottom bed and could sleep up to three children. The main bathroom is large, gleaming with a bath, an overhead shower and basin and WC.

Garden Spaces

To the rear of the property is a little walled patio garden. Come the afternoon the sun strikes the flag stone and makes for a perfect place to enjoy a drink or dine alfresco.

All in all, with its great location and easy living style and judging by the many, many guest reviews, this is a property that should please and delight all who stay.

The Location

A picture perfect place, Cartmel has grown into a popular chic little village, wrapped up in the most delightful architecture of traditional lime washed and stone built houses, shops and pubs.

Centered on a delightful village square overlooked by the huge Normal priory, the village is a maze of little lanes and bridges crossing a sweet little river, cruised by fleets of ducks and swans.

For foodies it is a place of pilgrimage. Nice cafes compliment the four excellent pubs, with cherry on the proverbial cake being Simon Rogan’s two establishments, Rogan & Company, an easy-going bistro and the famed two Michelin star awarded L’Enclume, favourite of celebrities and voted the Good Food Guide’s No1 UK restaurant.

There are plenty of easy walks from the village. A favourite is to climb the slopes up onto Hampsfell with its panoramic views across the Morecambe Bay, then descend down to Grange Over Sands or explore the tracks running through Eggerslack Woods.

A great day out is to take a Segway off road tour. The offices are by the car park and the reviews so far from our guest make this a must for a bit of fun.
