Set among stunning scenery with a backdrop of the rugged Old Man of Coniston, this stunning property promises an extra special stay to guests. Sleeping four over two sumptuous bedrooms, it won’t be long before you’re off down to the estate’s private lakeshore area to have a picnic or even sailing your own boat off the jetty. The Coniston Boating Centre is only 2 miles away and you can hire kayaks and paddleboards or go for a gentle boat trip on the National Trust’s Steam Yacht Gondola. And when you’re worn out, you’ll have a gorgeous cottage to return to.

Step into this former 18th-century stable to be greeted with a beautiful open-plan living area where calming neutral decor paired with blue hues in the lounge create a cosy atmosphere for snuggling up in front of the wood burner. Cook up a storm in the kitchen among glossy white units and sleek appliances before sitting down to eat at the contemporary dining table, or heading out to the enclosed walled garden to dine alfresco. After a long day out walking, take an indulgent soak in the bath where grey and white tones make it feel like a spa, before slipping between the sheets in the opulent bedrooms among peaceful pastel colours.

When you can drag yourself away, take long walks through Grizedale Forest (5.5 miles) where there are trails to suit little legs as well as grown-up ones. If you’re feeling adventurous, take on a treetop challenge at Treetop Trek Windermere (8.5 miles), but if you’d prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground go on the self-guided Bowness-on-Windermere Treasure Trail (start point 12 miles) and solve clues to find the fictional treasure. For romantic walks and independent cafes and shops, head to Kendal (19 miles) for the day.

The cottage was just perfect and we had everything we needed. The location was outstanding, having private access to the lake was fabulous. It was so peaceful by the lake. Wendy and Richard are the perfect hosts and sorted any issues. I would 100% recommend a trip to stay in these beautiful cottages.

Lovely clean and well equipped cottage. Really great to have access to jetty and picnic benches by lake to escape the crowds! Excellent location and nice view of lake from the double bedroom. Highly recommend nearby by Brantwood, the museum and steam launch. Beers from Coniston Brewery very good.

Fabulous stay at Tent Lodge Cottage again. Spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and in a stunning location. Close enough to walk into Coniston for the pubs, the cottage is in an excellent spot for exploring, walking, and catching the bus to other areas. We really enjoyed our stay!
