Please note it is best to use these written directions rather than trusting to “Sat Nav” or “Google” directions as these can often bring you into the area on a convoluted route causing confusion, not the easiest start to your holiday.

Leave the M6 at junction 36 and follow the sign for Windermere.

Approximately 3 miles before Windermere look for and take the turn to your right into Staveley.

As you enter the village look for the sign post to take you into the Kentmere Valley

Follow the road to the end of the valley into Kentmere, past the church and you will finally come to the last three houses opposite some stone barns. Nook Cottage is the first; Shepherds Nook is at the far end.

Arrival time 4 p.m. - Departure time 10 a.m.

If arriving in the dark it is advisable to bring a torch.
