Rossett Holme

If you are looking for easy living, a super place to stay right in the heart of the Lake District then Rossett Holme may well be for you.

Set above the shops on the well known Compston Street in the heart of Ambleside, this super, large apartment gives you easy access to all the benefits of the village, its cafes, inns, shops and restaurants, along with a host of local nearby walks in the fells that surround the village.

Owners Paddy and Rosie have refurbished, renovated and revived their property, affording their guests every comfort and facility to help make the perfect holiday base. From the TVs in every bedroom to the two huge tanks providing endless hot water, along with the welcome pack of red and white wine, bread, butter, sugar, preserves, tea, coffee and milk they have incorporated all the mod cons needed into this fine Victorian town building.
For those wishing to enjoy a walk there are numerous walking books, laminated maps, walking sticks and drinks thermoses all thoughtly provided.

Set on two levels, you can access the apartment from either the high street or from the rear in the quiet cu-de-sac of Millans Park, where you will find parking for one car under the raised deck – for further parking passes see inventory.

The Living Spaces

Once parked you go up the outside stairway to the rear door and into the large open plan kitchen, dining and main sitting room space.

The kitchen - dining area is fully equipped with all mod cons including a dual fuel range cooker, a small wine cooler and a cool American style fridge-freezer delivering ice on demand. Keen cook Rosie affords guests a good selection of herbs, spices and condiments, further complimenting the Welcome of wine, local preserves, and the means to make a cuppa after your journey.

For dining the table is set with comfortable leather chairs under mood lighting.

From the kitchen the room opens into the sitting room area. Plump sofas along with accent walls, an LED fire, the Smart wide screen TV and well-chosen ornament each combine to provide a cosy space to gather and relax.

From the sitting room you step into the main hall. Here lies the second small snug with an L shaped sofa, TV with SKY, Wi-Fi and a Bose iPod dock, ideal for children or for those that want to take a quiet moment.

There is also a small cloak room with basin and WC and downstairs is a spacious hall with lots of room for boots coats, bits and bobs, along with the front door leading out to Compston Street.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

There are four bedrooms to choose from, each well furnished and with a choice of Hungarian white goose down duvets or for those that require, a set of non-allergenic man made fibre duvets.

Bedroom one is on the first floor level. A spacious room it has a king size double, light oak furniture along with iPod dock and TV. The en-suite bathroom has bath, separate shower, basin and WC.

A short flight of stairs takes you to the upper level. Here there are two super double bedrooms, both with king sized beds and en-suite bathrooms with bath, separate shower cubicles, basin and WC, along with wide screen TVs and iPod docks.

The twin bedroom again comes with TV and iPod dock. Adjacent to this is the house shower room with shower, basin a WC.

Garden Spaces

Outside from the kitchen is the deck with table and chairs. An all day sun trap, this is a perfect little extra to a town property, where come summer you can sit out with a cool drink before stepping out for some night life, enjoy the many restaurants and inns or even take in a movie at the renowned Zeffereliis or Fellinis cinemas.

In summation this really is the perfect chic apartment, set in one of our most popular villages. Perfect as a romantic retreat but equally suited for families who want a base at the very heart of the National Park.

Out & About

Ambleside is one of our most popular towns, set right at the heart of central Lake District. There are plenty of shops for day to day needs, along with a few galleries and plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafes. Sheila's Cottage on The Slack is very good for the evening as is either Lucy's Wine Bar or restaurant. A must is the Apple Pie Eating House for either lunch or tea, where you can munch your way through a host of delightful sweet confections.

For entertainment and recreation you have the boats at Waterhead, where you can board a steamer for a trip on the lake, or hire rowing, sailing and low-powered motorboats and take to the water under your own steam. For a quite or maybe rainy day, you can take in a movie at Zefferellis or Fellinis cinemas followed by a visit to their Pizzeria or Vegeterranean restaurants.

There are many nearby walks around Ambleside. The Fairfield Horseshoe is a much-loved and classic walk across stunning fells, taking in the high-level circuit around the tops of the Fairfield group, the height granting wonderful views of the other mountains and lake.

Loughrigg Fell, behind Bracken Howe, is the beginning of a great day’s walk that takes in Rydal Water and Grasmere. This is one of my favourite days out, easy for all, where along the way you will find perfect photo opportunities.
