Rock Cottage

If your idea of a Lake District holiday is to have magnificent lake views, walks up onto mountain paths, a village within walking distance and plenty of activities, both on and around the water, then Rock Cottage may well fit the bill.

Rock Cottage is the first of owners Dave and Jan's holiday cottages, and this extremely popular home has been followed with a sister property Sun Cottage set a few doors away.

Very well furnished, as recognised by the Visit England 4 Star Gold award, Rock Cottage offers guests comfortable accommodation, along with all the benefits of village amenities and a fantastic landscape to explore. Nearby you have one of our most beautiful lakes, a rugged mountain range, plenty of activities on, in and around the water, along with pubs, cafes, shops and a micro brewery.

Set above the village, a few minutes walk down the hill, Rock Cottage is the last of a short row of small traditional Lakeland Cottages on Thurston Bank. Approached by a steep winding hill, the elevated position gives a splendid, panoramic view of the lake. The cottage is perfect for, and set up to host four people, however there is use of an extra small bunk bed room for children should you so wish.

The Living Spaces

You enter into the kitchen - dining room, well equipped it has all you need to rustle up your favourite dishes, aided by a super electric AGA oven with halogen hobs. With excellent decor it makes both an appealing space to prepare and enjoy long relaxed meals.

From the kitchen you step into the sitting room. A plump sofa along with two arm chairs are set around a roaring open fire, adding warmth and atmosphere in winter, and double doors open out to the terraced gardens, giving the most perfect views of Coniston Water and the distant fell.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

Upstairs and you come to the first floor with a delightful master double bedroom with en-suite shower room. There is also the bunk bedroom for those who chose this option. The master bathroom is small but well equipped with bath, overhead shower, basin and WC. A further fight of stairs open into the attic bedroom with double bed TV and DVD player.

Garden Spaces

The terraced gardens offer the perfect view of the lake and the mountain. During summer days it is a real sun trap, perfect to relax, enjoy a glass or two or set up a barbcue for alfresco dining with the most stunning and romantic backdrop.

In summary, Rock Cottage offers the perfect Lakeland experience. Quality, as recognised by the gold award, a location that offers walks from the doorstep, a village to wine and dine, and forever in your sight one of our most beautiful lakes - come enjoy.

Out & About

Coniston village sits at the northwest tip of Coniston Water, sheltered in the lea of the Coniston mountain range, in the very heart of the Lake District

One of our favourite lakes, much of the shore line with its little coves and bays is accessible to explore, where at the boating centre in the village you can hire all manner of boats from canoes to little motorboats.

The village is welcoming with shops, cafes and inns, the oldest the Black Bull, serving good pub grub and its own local brewed ales.

The big walk is to tackle Coniston Old Man. A true mountain, it has easily defined tracks to its summit, where the reward is a spectacular view.

Running down the east shore of the lake is the Grizedale Forest. A day out in itself, the many paths and track take you on a 9-mile route under the canopy of ancient and new woodland.
