Park Gate Cottage Guest Reviews

We had a fantastic week in the Lake District, the weather was kind and the cottage was absolutely perfect.  It was clean, comfortable and warm, once the fire was lit.  A good supply of coal was left by the owner, which was a very nice touch.  We hope to return soon. Thanks for your help in booking this.

we had a lovely time at Park Gate Cottage, a proper cottage!! Weather wasn't particularly great but we made the most of it.

Forth time here at Park Gate Cottage. Its become a home away from home fur us, we love returning to this lovely cottage! We adventured up Hell Gill Pike but tried to get up to Great Carrs, which was shortly cancelled as snow storm up there made it difficult to see, so we retreated back down! Visited some beautiful waterfalls Aira Force at Ullswater and walked Gowbarrow, great views from up there. Stanley Ghyll Force the most beautiful and green place we have even seen! Visited cafes in Ambleside and Grasmere, great gingerbread! Visited Tarn Hows and Hawkshead on our way home! Cant wait to come back next year!

We’ve had a wonderful week in Park gate Cottage in a very beautiful area. The cottage is really cosy and we have had everything we need to make our stay truly memorable. We will look forward to visiting again and exploring more of the Lake District.

We have had a wonderful week here. We love the pub down the road The Ship Inn. John went to climb The Old Man of Coniston and said it was a wonderful walk up there. On Monday we took the dogs down to the lake, John and Summer went swimming in the lake. Thank you again for a lovely stay.

Thank you for making the cottage a tranquil haven. The furniture and fittings are so tastful. It was a delight to come home to the cottage after exhilerating hikes. If you are reading this as a guest, here are a few suggestions.
1. Leave the car at the cottage and take the bridge path down the lane on the left to the village. If it is dark take the torch from under the stairs, we did this every night.
2. All the pubs in the village serve super food and drinks (try the different local beers, quite a treat.) The Old Bull serves especially tasty food and the home made pies in The Ship are lovely. Also Sara's the indian restaurant is delicious.
3. Hikes from the cottage door which are well worth doing - The Old Man of Coniston (take lots of layers can be freezing at the peak), Coniston Water and Tarn Hows.
We will be back!

3rd or 4th time back, can't remember!
Love it, The Autumn colours were gorgeous this week! We did Sweden Bridge walk from Ambelside, walked along Grasmere and walked up Lingmoor Fell in Langdales using books in the property.
Thank you.

What a lovely place to stay!  It is a bit magical to stay in a house painted by A Heaton Cooper.
We had everything needed for cooking, the weather ranged from baking to torrential and was so peaceful.

It's our second time in this lovely cottage. Yet again it has been a great base to visit the lakes.
Thank you again.

A lovely place for our first family holiday. Very peaceful and Edward slept very well. We really appreciated the Wainwright books in the bookshelf, and we managed to do lots of lovely walks, including the Old Man and the Langdale Pikes. We stopped in on the Ship Inn, very friendly. Overall a very comfortable cottage. Thanks.

It's been a lovely week. The cottage has been fantastic and provided everything we needed. The walk in to Coniston down the railway line is always a good start to the day and we bought many an item from the Honesty shop. Good selection of pubs, the Black Bull does great food. Look forward to visiting again soon, our Springer Spaniel 'Sybil' loved it also.

Had a lovely week, such a cosy, comfortable and sweet cottage! A lovely village and beautiful scenery. Will be planning our next visit soon! Very sad to be leaving.

Wonderful weekend.  The weather has been perfect 27 degrees all day.  Lots to do down at the lake. Coniston Water is beautiful and the children had a ball.  The cottage is extremely well equipped, comfortable and stylishly decorated.  BBQ area perfect.
