NORTHERN ROUTE:    Leave the M6 at junction 40 onto the A66 travelling west towards Keswick. At next roundabout, take the A592 south, signposted Ullswater. At the junction with the B5320 at the head of Lake Ullswater turn right to remain on the A592 west lake road sign posted Patterdale & Glenridding . As you approach and before entering the village of Glenridding with the lake on the left there is a cinder track on the right, follow this as it over looks the village, passing various properties after 500m pass throgh a green metal gate, (please close again), continue until you see the gated drive way ahead of you for Laburnum Cottage, it drops down to the left, there is ample parking for 4 cars.

 

SOUTHERN ROUTE:   If you wish to come the southern route, leave the M6 at junction 36 onto the A590 and then the A591 following the signs to Windermere. From Windermere keep on the A591 out towards Ambleside.  You will come to a small roundabout, take the right hand turn sign posted ‘Troutbeck’. Follow this road to Troutbeck and then on up to the Kirkstone Pass. At the summit pass the Kirkstone Inn and descend down to Ullswater and Glenridding. Drive to the far end of Glenridding village, as you leave the last of the houses with the lake on the right there will be shortly be a switchback cinder track on the left.. Follow this as it over looks the village, passing various properties after 500m pass through a green metal gate, (please close again) continue until you see the gated drive way ahead of you for Laburnum Cottage, it drops down to the left, there is ample parking for 4 cars.

Arrival time 4 p.m. - Departure time 10 a.m.

If arriving in the dark it is advisable to bring a torch.
