Campbell Guest Reviews

we had a great stay in Coniston and we found the cottage to be exactly as described. It was very well equipped, very clean and well appointed.Really we can think of nothing that could be improved!
Many thanks.

Our stay in "Campbell" Coniston Lake was very enjoyable. Beautiful setting and well placed away from the bustle and crowds in the more populated tourist locations of Ambleside and Windermere.

My husband and I, together with our daughter stayed here late in late June.  The apartment very comfortable and clean.  Everything was just as advertised.  Very well equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms.  We are all tall so had to duck in and out of the kitchen and shower but, overall, lovely place to stay and hope to return.  Owner  contacted us shortly before we arrived with lots of helpful advice.  For eating out would definitely recommend Steam bistro.  We ate there twice, excellent on both occasions.

Recently returned from a week in Coniston staying at Campbell Cottage. It was a wonderful stay! The cottage was just beautiful in all respects. The location stunning! It was fabulous to come back to after a full day exploring this lovely part of Cumbria! Even though Campbell was situated in a perfectly, peaceful idyll it was very near walkable to Coniston for lovely food and drinks. Thank you all for everything!.....Kind Regards Linda and Barry

A fabulous little cottage style apartment, which was immaculately clean and was possibly the best equipped we have ever stayed in. The boot room was a tremendous facility for cleaning and drying our walking shoes. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location and the garden is a sun trap, sheltered and with amazing views. We had a wonderful time and we will be back in the near future.

I would just like to say the cottage was perfect. It is beautifully positioned for walking in the Lakes. The cottage is a real 'home from home'. It was spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. We couldn't ask for more. We will definitely return to this cottage in the near future.

We had a super weekend. This cottage was beautifully furnished, extremely homely and comfortable. It was a very cold weekend but the place was cosy and warm.
We will definitely return.

We had a wonderful stay back in May at Campbell cottage, both the cottage and location were beautiful. The welcome pack was lovely and the little extra that Julia left out was was such a lovely surprise and was very much appreciated. Many thanks. I'm sure we will be returning soon for another visit. We just wanted to say thanks to you and Julia for a great week in Campbell Cottage.
It is a lovely cottage – very cosy, tastefully decorated and extremely well equipped.
We particularly enjoyed the ‘extras’ such as the welcome pack and the Nespresso coffee maker.
We were also grateful for your responsiveness when we needed information and for the time trouble and expense that Julia incurred in returning a coat that we left.
Altogether great customer service!
Kind regards,
Kevin and Jill Downes

I recently spent a lovely week at Campbell Cottage. From the moment of arrival we felt at home with the perfect 'welcome pack' which awaited us and provided us with a very timely glass of wine after a long journey! The cottage is very cosy and homely, if you like to cook with locally sourced ingredients while you are away then this is definitely the place for you with a kitchen just as well equipped as most at home! Beds are very comfortable and, for winter months when snow is on top of the 'Old Man', the wood burning stove is just the job. The perfect location made our week fly by and we look forward to visiting again.

My boyfriend and I have been staying at Campbell twice per year for the last 4 years.  There is so much to see and do including walking and cycling in Grizedale Forest (accessed within a 5 minute walk from the Cottage), cruises on Lake Coniston, picnics, museums visits, afternoon teas or even a Spa day!  There is certainly no shortage of things to do and the provided information pack is very useful.  We find the location of Campbell is ideal, the perfect combination of tranquillity whilst close enough to the local amenities and places of interest.
Only a short, flat and paved walk into the local village where there are several local pubs serving good food and brewing their own beer.  There are also food shops and an excellent butcher selling local meat.  Every time we stay at Campbell we always cook several hearty meals from the provided cookery books and never have any trouble even cooking a full Sunday roast due to the fully equipped kitchen – definitely the best self-catering kitchen we’ve come across!  In addition, the welcome pack, complete with local treats and a bottle of wine, always goes down well after the drive up.
An absolutely beautiful cottage in an idylic location. Perfectly equipped and fantastic cycling and walking on hand. I just wish it was mine!

An exquisite cottage in a dream place, perfectly equipped owner obviously trying to please.
We will definately be back!
Thank you for providing us with a fantastic cottage, everything was first class!

Lovely cottage, very comfortable had a wonderful week, even managed a walk up The Old Man.

Dear Annie, Many thanks for that. Again I'd like to say how much we enjoyed our stay and thought Campbell was of a very good standard and well located for our needs. Would not hesitate to recommend it and your company.
All the best, Kate.

Spent a lovely week in this beautiful cottage. Absolutely  perfect !  we will return!
This is the most beautiful holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in (and we have visited many places) Well Done!

This lovely cottage helped towards a perfect holiday weekend. Thank you.

We had a lovely break and thoroughly enjoyed the remoteness and comfort of  Campbell. Hadn't realised the world could be so silent at night.

Perfect is the only way to describe Campbell. We arrived late coming straight from work and loved the beautiful tea tray set with fine china, local fudge and a bottle of wine. With a thoughtful bathroom set as well for a well deserved pamper after a long days walking.

Loved it as we walked through the door every need is catered for, comfortable relaxed feel with beautiful decor, comfy sofas and a fabulous wood burning stove which we enjoyed chilling in front of each evening.  Such a well equipped kitchen, there is everything you need for any occasion and such good quality, a real cooks paradise.

Campbell is set out of Coniston village allowing it to be lovely and quiet but it is just a short walk into the village, which has plenty of places to grab a coffee or eat out. We enjoyed not having to take the car and loved the stroll back after dinner.

Our stay at Campbell was perfect and we can't wait to go back. There are so many walks within easy access of Campbell with something to suit all abilities. We had our dog with us and loved the woodland walks just behind the cottage.
