Bank Court is a luxuriously appointed early 18th century Grade 2 listed cottage situated in the heart of The Square in Cartmel. The modest exterior does not prepare the visitor for the spacious living quarters inside. The ground floor has a good size kitchen leading to a large lounge with a warming open fire and there is a separate sumptuous dining room which overlooks The Square. The property boasts 3 large double bedrooms all richly furnished. The attic bedroom also has a contemporary “chillax lounge” containing low level comfortable seating to relax in amongst quaint original wooden beams.

The lovely village of Cartmel is an ideal location for walkers, cyclists, lovers of fine food and visitors to Cartmel Racecourse.

Local Facilities

Cartmel has a small local mini store with a combined post office. There are also specialist shops selling an assortment of foods, country clothing, lovely things for the home and of course the famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding.There is also a beauty salon offering day spa experiences and packages.

The village has 4 pubs, 2 in The Square, a hotel with a bar and restaurant and 3 cafes. Cartmel is also the home of the famous L’Enclume Michelin starred restaurant and it’s wonderful sister brasserie restaurant Rogans.

Nearest petrol station is 8 miles away towards Newby Bridge on the A590

Kendal is the nearest large town 15.5 miles away around 30 minutes by car. Kendal has Asda, Morrisons and Booths supermarkets and a good high street selection of shops such as Boots, WH Smith, Waterstones. There are also many outdoor clothing shops.   


Arrival and Car Parking Facilities.

There are no guaranteed car parking spaces outside the property. However, there are three parking permits available to allow guests to use the village car park free of charge which is a 2 minute walk away. Guests will be advised by Lakeland Cottage Company how to gain access upon arrival. After collecting a parking permit from inside, they can then park up in the car park.

The main entrance to the house is through the back kitchen entrance, although there is also a side entrance.

There are UNEVEN COBBLES to walk across to reach the archway and the tarmac passageway is uneven.
