No1 Tower House

Overview

No1 Tower House is a chic double fronted ground floor apartment lying just off Cartmel’s village square and through the picturesque Norman arch. The owners have furnished their property with quality and style, offering their guests great comfort and easy living, making for the perfect romantic retreat in one of our most popular and unique villages.

A little medieval gem, Cartmel is only seven miles from the southern reach of Lake Windermere and is a firm favorite of foodies and celebrities alike. A huddle of lime washed cottages and shops, the village revolves around a delightful square, overlooked by a huge, impressive Norman Priory and, on its edge, is the smallest National Hunt racecourse in the country. For wining and dining there are four excellent pubs, along with Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume, voted the number one venue by the Good Food Guide and the prestigious award of two Michelin stars for exceptional cuisine.

Living Spaces

From the pilastered front entrance you step into the hall with its beautifully tessellated floor and at its end leads around into the kitchen area. The sitting room is beautifully furnished with the plump sofa and armchair sitting well with the original features of fine cornicing and built in part glazed cupboards aside the chimney breast with electric flame effect fire. A small drop leaf table opens up for a perfect candlelit supper, where after you can tuck up with a movie on the wide screen TV.

The compact galley kitchen area has all you need to rustle up your favourite dishes where to one end is a little breakfast bar for a quick breakfast or snack.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

The bedroom is wonderfully spacious, enjoying features of original cornicing and window shutters, all decorated in muted colours and tastefully furnished where the Superking-size bed will offer a relaxing night's sleep after your days exploring the lakes and fells.

The smart tiled shower room lies off the kitchen and has a walk-in shower along with hand basin and WC.

Out And About

Possibly the most picture perfect place in the Lake District, Cartmel has grown into a chic little village, wrapped up in the most delightful architecture of traditional lime washed and stone built houses, shops and pubs.

Centered on the village square, overlooked by the huge Norman Priory, the village is a maze of little lanes and bridges crossing a sweet little river, cruised by fleets of ducks and swans.

For those who like to step out and wine and dine the village has much to offer. Home of the famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, it has moved up the gastronomic scale to become a place of pilgrimage for foodies and celebrities. A clutch of cafes compliment the four excellent pubs, with the cherry on the Cartmel Cake, or should I say Pudding, being Simon Rogan’s two establishments, Rogan & Company, an easy-going bistro and the famed two Michelin star awarded L’Enclume, voted the 2017 Good Food Guide’s No1 UK restaurant.

There are plenty of easy walks from the village. A favourite is to climb high up onto Hampsfell with its panoramic views across the Morecambe Bay, then descend down to Grange Over Sands or explore the tracks running through Eggerslack Woods.

A great day out is to take a Segway off road tour. The offices are by the car park and the reviews so far from our guest make this a must for a bit of fun.
