blog 2 Lake District Adventure Capital

THE LAKE DISTRICTENGLANDS ADVENTURE CAPITAL

For the growing number of people that seek excitement and adrenaline fuelled activities as part of their holiday, then you need travel no further than the England’s Lake District.

Given the magnificent landscape of mountains and fells, forests and lakes, it is not surprising that the area has been able to step up to meet this increasing demand for outdoor thrills and spills.

Most people are aware of the core activities the National Park offers; walking the fells, climbing the mountains, exploring the forests and woodlands, along with enjoying the lakes and tarns, either simply strolling by a water’s edge, picnicking on the shoreline or hiring a boat and maybe taking a swim.

For those that want to turbo charge their holiday time to the lakes there is plenty on offer. To find your thrill of choice it is well worth researching on Google. A good start is the Cumbria Tourist Board Golakes website, which lists pretty much all that is going on in the world of thrill and adventure, ranging from nicely different to sheer terror.

From 4X4 adventure days to swinging through the trees at one of the Go-Ape centres there is something for all. To give you a flavour of what is on offer here are four of our favourites.

Honister Mines and the Via Ferrata. A course of iron rungs, scramble nets and Burma bridges set on the side of Honister Pass, high above the beautiful valley of Buttermere, this really is a unique, some would say scary, experience.

Fly Boarding. Soar above the lake on a a set of high powered water jets for an unforgettable sport.

White Water Canoeing. Power a canoe or kayak down a fast flowing river with white water sections.

Extreme Mountain Biking. There are miles of bike trails throughout the National Park. Two of the best purpose made mountain bike trails are to be found in either Grizedale Forest in south lakes, or the Whinlatter Forest above Keswick in the north lakes. Bikes can be hired along with helmets.
