This stunning retreat lies in the beating heart of Cartmel at the foot of the Lake District. The ancient village, famed for its 12th-century priory, has long been a favourite with artists, authors and poets and is the perfect place to write your own love story. This contemporary loft sleeps two guests in its spectacular super king-size bedroom and makes a romantic escape for couples looking to explore this lesser-known corner of the Lake District.

Inside, this sleek apartment combines rustic charm with contemporary design. A warm welcome awaits you as you step into the generous hallway. Kick off your wellies and meander up the stairs to the stylish open-plan living area. After a day of wandering Cartmel's cobbled streets, relax and unwind together on the sumptuous sofa. Or enjoy a long soak in the bathroom's free-standing bath. Plan your next adventure over a candlelit supper before retiring to the glorious super king-size bedroom. And what better way to start your day than with a cup of freshly brewed coffee in the charming shared courtyard? The outdoor seating includes blankets and cushions so you can savour the stars in comfort.

Wander hand in hand through rustic streets and stream-side walks as you discover why Cartmel is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after spots in the Lake District. With a fabulous food scene, that boasts two renowned restaurants and an array of independent makers and artisans, it's a true foodie paradise. England's largest lake, Windermere, is only 14 miles away but does get very busy in peak season. So for a more peaceful day out, try the serene seaside village of Arnside (15 miles) with its golden sands and picturesque fishing boats.

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
