Set in the idyllic Newlands Valley, a region steeped in literary history, this characterful log cabin is perfect for a romantic retreat or a family getaway. Part of a charming complex of bespoke cabins, this property can sleep up to four guests across two warm and welcoming bedrooms. And with excellent access to some of South Lakeland's top attractions, plus a phenomenal array of walking, cycling and sailing opportunities, you can write your own adventure.

High sloping ceilings and exposed wooden features help this cabin feel grand yet homely. Climb the four steps to the front door and enter the fabulous open-plan kitchen and living area. Split over two levels, it provides pockets of space for both socialising and seclusion. Plan riverside rambles along Newland Beck around the generous dining table or savour a lazy snooze by the rustic wood burner. The two bedrooms meanwhile offer wonderful views of the surrounding countryside while the bathroom's lavish roll-top bath is on hand to soothe tired feet after a long day of exploring the fells. Outside, enjoy dining alfresco on the charming terrace. With access to the complex's BBQ facilities, there's nowhere better to enjoy a meal together.

Famous as the backdrop of several Beatrix Potter novels, Newlands Valley boasts access to some of the Lake District's most popular attractions. Try canoeing and kayaking on Lake Windermere (8 miles) or fish for pike and perch in Coniston Waters (7 miles). But this region also conceals a wealth of hidden gems. The Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway runs from late March to the end of October and offers unparalleled views of the Leven Valley. Or take the A590 to Whitbarrow Scar at Witherslack (16 miles) and enjoy spectacular scenery without the crowds.

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
