The seaside resort of Grange-over-Sands is a lovely place to spend the day exploring the attractions on the town’s promenade and is only a short drive away as well as Ambleside, Grasmere, Coniston, or Ulverston, this is a perfect base to explore some of the hidden treasures of the Lake District. Head up a few steps and through the front door to the lounge, creating a warm atmosphere and perfect place to kick back after a day of exploring, on the sofa or two armchairs in front of the wood burner and Smart TV.

Head to the kitchen which is ideal for a family feast and tastefully designed with a built-in seating area with patio doors straight out into the garden. The kitchen boasts everything needed to prepare a feast, an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Next, is the snug offering an area for the kids to enjoy a movie on the Smart TV. What a find! Cartmel is a gorgeous village and the cottage is perfectly positioned just off the main square. Beautifully done inside & well equipped. Parking can be challenging as it is a small village however you do get a car permit with your stay. However be careful it only allows you to park in certain bays something we discovered after the parkRead moreing fine! Regardless we really enjoyed our stay & will be back. Highly recommend The Cavendish Arms for a nice drink & food fabulous book ahead! Hide

A beautifully furnished and spacious house in a very central location, we really enjoyed our stay here. It was very comfortable with a nice garden to sit in, and everything felt as if high quality was the guiding principle. Probably one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in and we would love to return.

Town Close was the perfect accommodation for us. Situated right in the Centre of Cartmel we used here as a base to explore bits of the Lake District. The house itself is beautifully finished and everything felt like it was done to a high standard, beds, bathroom decor etc. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and it was great to have the winRead moree fridge and BBQ. I would definitely recommend Town Close to anyone looking for accommodation in the area. Hide

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
