This unique property, in the beautiful Georgian town of Cockermouth, sleeps six guests. Cockermouth is located just outside the Lake District National Park, giving you easy access to the area’s top attractions but offering a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere. Spend a day at Derwentwater (15 miles), taking a cruise or learning how to windsurf. The mountainous scenery at Whinlatter Forest (8 miles) offers peace and tranquillity in abundance; pack a picnic, pull on your walking boots and lose yourself in its magic.

Set on the banks of the river, this remarkable property is full of character, with vibrant tones of purple and lilac and an array of quirky accessories. The spacious lounge/diner is a great place for socialising, with plump sofas centred around a cosy electric fire and Smart TV. There’s also a large dining table to enjoy evenings of great food and laughter together. The sunroom, which looks out over the water, is the perfect place to sip a coffee or grab five minutes’ peace with a good book. There’s also a small courtyard, which is a real sun trap in the mornings.

The pretty town of Cockermouth is home to Wordsworth House and Gardens (less than 500 metres away). The poet’s childhood home has been presented as it would have been when he lived there in the 1770s. It’s a fascinating building and the beautiful riverside gardens are also well worth a wander. Keswick is just 13 miles away and is a great Lake District hub. The bustling market town has a fantastic selection of eateries, gift shops and adventure activity companies, as well as a popular open-air market. From here you can visit Derwentwater, where you can take a peaceful waterside amble along the footpath or board one of the iconic Keswick launches.

The Beehive is in a perfect location. Close to all the amenities of the pretty town of Cockermouth and within a short drive of some of the beautiful lakes. The cottage is very well equipped, comfortable and cosy. The back of the property overlooks the river where there are lots of birds, including a Kingfisher. A very special place.

What an incredibly memorable holiday we have just had. Helen could not have been more friendly or accommodating. The house is incredibly comfortable and well furnished with spectacular views. During our stay the area received a flood warning and we watched the river rise. We positioned the house's flood defences with advice from Helen (and the amazRead moreingly friendly neighbours) and were able to remain (and stay warm and dry). We will definitely be returning! The cottage was lovely, exceeded expectations. Beautiful views of the river, a fair few spiders around the place but thats to be expected with riverside position Facilities were great, even had a little heater in the bathroom as even in August it could be chilly in there

This may sleeps 6, but seats 4. Only 4 chairs at the table and 2x2 seater sofas. It was definitely not the cleanest. Lots of cobwebs & spiders (which may be expected with an old property), but also a lot of dog hair. There is no dustpan to make tidying up as you go easy, and the kitchen floor had not been mopped on arrival. Parking is very tight. The cottage is lovely with everything you need. Very handy for everything but sits on a quiet street overlooking the river. The owners are very nice and go out of their way to make you welcome. One of the best cottages we have ever stayed at.

Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
