For those who want to spend their holiday enjoying Lake Windermere and it surroundings, there could be no better place to stay. A footpath leads directly from the property to the shore of the lake, and to the ferry terminal, where the boat runs across to the town of Bowness. Claife Heights, a National Trust-owned viewing platform, is within walking distance and offers unrivalled views across Windermere. The cottage is located in the hamlet of Far Sawrey, the neighbouring hamlet to which is Near Sawrey, a popular destination for visitors who wish to visit Hill Top, the former home of Beatrix Potter.

Entering this beautiful property through the hallway, guests come to the elegantly styled kitchen/diner, the focal point of which is the Aga, with its pretty tiled surround. There is also a large dining table here, as well as an electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. French windows from this room lead out onto the property’s patio. The lovely cosy lounge has a warming open fire, comfortable sofas, TV/DVD, and hi-fi. Also on the ground floor there is a double bedroom and a shower room with WC, which also houses the washer. On the first floor of the property there are three more bedrooms, the first of which is a spacious king-size room which benefits from a pine dressing table and a seating area with sofa and TV, alongside a very well-appointed en-suite bathroom with a shower over the spa bath and WC. The second first-floor bedroom is a twin room with en-suite shower and WC, whilst the last room is an attractive single room.

Outside, there is a patio area with seating close to the house, giving way to a large lawn which enjoys views over Lake Windermere. There is off-road parking provided and a bike shed for bike storage.

This was a lovely cottage in a beautiful location, we saw deer in the garden plus lots of birds, squirrels and pheasants. This cottage is in a great location and suitable for dogs. The kitchen has a good layout with lots of space, however there is no salt, pepper or oil, so be sure to bring all of the essentials yourself! The beds a little uncomfortable and the property itself could do with a bit of TLC as some of the walls have paint/plaster worn off.

Lovely location with many walks close by. Garden is enclosed apart from a gate which fell down ages ago. One of the walls is low so bigger dogs may jump over. Great accommodation and location. Great standard but needs a little TLC. If bringing dogs great garden for them, but consider low wall on one side is easy for medium size dogs upwards to jump. Would definitely book the property again
