For those who want to spend their holiday enjoying Lake Windermere and it surroundings, there could be no better place to stay. A footpath leads directly from the property to the shore of the lake, and to the ferry terminal, where the boat runs across to the town of Bowness. Claife Heights, a National Trust-owned viewing platform, is within walking distance and offers unrivalled views across Windermere. The cottage is located in the hamlet of Far Sawrey, the neighbouring hamlet to which is Near Sawrey, a popular destination for visitors who wish to visit Hill Top, the former home of Beatrix Potter.

Entering this beautiful property through the hallway, guests come to the elegantly styled kitchen/diner, the focal point of which is the Aga, with its pretty tiled surround. There is also a large dining table here, as well as an electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. French windows from this room lead out onto the property’s patio. The lovely cosy lounge has a warming open fire, comfortable sofas, TV/DVD, and hi-fi. Also on the ground floor there is a double bedroom and a shower room with WC, which also houses the washer. On the first floor of the property there are three more bedrooms, the first of which is a spacious king-size room which benefits from a pine dressing table and a seating area with sofa and TV, alongside a very well-appointed en-suite bathroom with a shower over the spa bath and WC. The second first-floor bedroom is a twin room with en-suite shower and WC, whilst the last room is an attractive single room.

Outside, there is a patio area with seating close to the house, giving way to a large lawn which enjoys views over Lake Windermere. There is off-road parking provided and a bike shed for bike storage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

This was a lovely cottage in a beautiful location, we saw deer in the garden plus lots of birds, squirrels and pheasants. Because of Coronavirus we didnt venture too far out preferring to have nice walks beside Windermere and Coniston then returning to the cottage and cosying up with a log fire and a glass of wine. This cottage is in a great location and suitable for dogs. The kitchen has a good layout with lots of space, however there is no salt, pepper or oil, so be sure to bring all of the essentials yourself! The beds a little uncomfortable and the property itself could do with a bit of TLC as some of the walls have paint/plaster worn off.

Lovely location with many walks close by. Garden is enclosed apart from a gate which fell down ages ago. One of the walls is low so bigger dogs may jump over. Cottage is very comfortable but the Aga smells of oil badly and is very warm. We had to open the windows in February. Pub is 5 mins walk away but down a steep slope. Beautiful location & views. 15 min walk to Windermere (uphill on the way back) on either a rocky path or the A road. Excellent food pub less than 5 mins walk down a safe path (take a torch!). The house is in a beautiful quiet spot. Very well laid out inside and extremely warm with the AGA . At times it was too hot and we turned many of the radiators down. We loved seeing the squirrels and deer in the garden. Numerous brilliant walks from the doorstep. Great accommodation and location. Great standard but needs a little TLC. If bringing dogs great garden for them, but consider low wall on one side is easy for medium size dogs upwards to jump. Would definitely book the property again

A lovely cottage tucked away in a quiet and beautiful area of the lakes. Very homely feel and plenty of space both inside and out. Lovely spot! House is very warm due to AGA so needed most windows wide open on hot days.

Our family of 6 adults spent a wonderful week at Sawrey Stables. The accommodation was every bit as lovely as in the website photos -- spacious and comfortable with a warm and cosy feel (due to the Aga and the real fire in the living-room). Adventure, memories and awe-inspiring natural beauty await you in the rugged, wild and unique Cumbrian Lake District where beautiful expanses of water merge with magical forests against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and fells.

This ancient land has been sculpted by time and nature and is the newest UNESCO World Heritage Site and the first UK National Park to be awarded this outstanding accolade. Poets, writers and artists throughout the ages have been instinctively drawn here; William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin, to name a few. The attractions and the diverse landscape will not fail to charm the young and the young at heart, whether that be thrill-seeking activities you seek, pure and cathartic inspiration or simply just some relaxation, you will find it here.

Cycling, walking, canoeing, white-water rafting, flying, parachuting and ballooning are just some of the offerings for any level of adrenalin junky. Experience the glory of nature in the wild or in a setting such as the Predator Experience where you can walk with wolves and learn about the importance of conservation. For a complete day of family, enjoy treetop capers at Go-Ape in the Grizedale Forest.

Vibrant towns and villages are there to be discovered, be it by land or water. You can step back in time and enjoy a steamboat cruise on a lake or leisurely unearth the dynamic scene of contemporary art, culture and some of the best dining in the UK by foot, bus or car.

The National Park is an area of breath-taking beauty that will leave you spoilt for choice, refuelled and inspired. So much so that you’ll want to come back time and time again.
